I communicate in a straightforward style.

I do not use metaphors.

Do autistic people communicate on this manner in an unambiguous way ?

I have always thought my communication quite versatile. Although straightforward i can also be cryptic and elusive.

Supposedly we are naturally inclined to be literal. and maybe overly verbose. but who uses metaphors anyway, except poets.

Not all autistics.

It just happened that verbalizing thoughts and observations on any forms possible, and command verbalization isn't very natural in my case.

It doesn't help that I've been too accustomed to a world full of unspoken nuisances, where 'yes or no' is not always taken as literally as intended.

I can be very straightforward, but I can also be very metaphorical. It depends on who I'm talking to about what.

My preference is for straightforward unambiguous communication. However I often adopt more NT type language to blend in. Not as much as I used to and mainly when it amuses me these days.

I mastered metaphor's and idioms to some extent in my late teens as part of the masking process and to fit in better.

They confused me as a child.

I'm very straightforward and to the point.

I tend to be pretty direct, but I love word play, and do use metaphors and similies, etc to help explain a point if I think I am not reaching the person I am talking to. I don't think there is one set way that autistic people communicate, any more than there is in NT folks.
