Do you hate people saying hi to you?

Lately, I've noticed that I usually get annoyed when people say hi to me, especially teachers. I just want to be left alone. When someone says hi to me, I mutter, "hi" and start rubbing my arms.

I was like that at my old job, every morning Id come in and the bosses would be like "hi, good morning, how are you doing" and of course I'd have to reply but really I just wanted them to shut up, give me my paycheck and f*ck off. I hate all that smalltalk.

When people say "hi, how are you doing?," I'll respond honestly and usually say something the lines of "hey, I'm pretty mediocre, how are you?" It not only messes with their ridiculous conception of small talk, but makes me more unique in their eyes. Win win, right?

Haha, I'll try that next time, another thing I hate is when I've just woken up and family members immediately say good morning and attempt to initiate a conversation, for real what the hell do they expect, I'm still half asleep and haven't even had anything to eat.

See, what I hate is when people don't say hi back. I'll be like "Oh, hey, good morning!" and they're just like "stareee."
Like I get if you don't wanna talk, but at least, like, acknowledge me in some form. Instead of "staaare".

I do hate it, though, when people try to make small talk and I'm clearly trying to go someplace or am otherwise occupied. Even worse is when I'm on the verge of a meltdown and someone wants to come up and chat. It's like "Child, can you not pick a better time to come up and talk to me?"

i would prefer to ignore everyone and they ignore me but what i really hate is the ambivalence of whether to say hi or not. many people are offended if you just enter the office without saying anything and that can lead to enemies in the work place. same with "bye".

But - I still answer rethorical questions very detailed - if I don´t stop myself in time

nobody i hate says "hi" to me.
i not really hate anyone, but if i do not like someone, i do not register what they say to me.

I think you may have misread the thread title.

well the title says "Do you hate people saying hi to you? ", and when i consider the list of people who say "hi" to me, i find i do not hate any of them. what else can i say?

Sorry, I may have phrased that wrong. What I meant was, "Do you hate it when people say hi to you?"

I dislike it, only because it's typically the start of a conversation, which I don't want to engage in.

I don't like it.
It is invasive and forces a response.
And I hate the good morning routine even more.
I do not hate people, but I do prefer to be left alone.

there are 2 contexts in which they say "hi" to me.

one is when i am in a shop or an office, and i simply nod in their direction to acknowledge their address. i never say "hi" or even "hello" myself (except as a response on the phone).

the other is when i see someone who i know when i am out who says "hi mark" which is an attempt to stop me and engage me in conversation.
if i am not in a mood for interruption, i will terminate their inquiry with a polite inference to my urgency of continued progress.

person in mall: hi mark.......hey!!....hi mark....
me: oh yes....... good day.
person in mall: how are you?
me: very well. (i look at phone) ...goodness gracious me, look at the time, i must press on sorry...anyway.. nice seeing you and we'll catch up soon i guess.

it is easy to fob off "hi's", so i do not hate them.
