Does anyone else do this? I like hiding under blankets and in small, enclosed spaces (as long as I have immediate access out; if I get shut in, I get claustrophobic and panic). Under blankets especially, I feel safe and protected, and I find studying the pattern on the fabric, or the wrinkles and folds, or the stitching, to be very relaxing. I like doing it when I'm with groups of people at my or someone else's house, usually my parents' friends, because I can listen to the conversation without having to make any effort at using correct nonverbal social cues; no looking at people, no nodding, smiling, or asking inane questions, I just get to listen from inside my coccoon, and it feels great. Anyone else relate?

I love being under my blanket for everything. I even can't go to sleep unless I'm under and wrapped up in my blanket.

You could just say, "I'll be in my alcove."

I relate. Love cocooning. I often opt to be in a wheelchair when in large public places so that I can hide under a blanket. Equipped with a peephole of course 8)

I have ALWAYS been like this. When I was a toddler, my folks had a couch that had a back that slanted away from the wall, so there was like a 1 foot gap between the wall and much of the couch. I would crawl back in there and go to sleep. My mom was worried about it, but she gave up trying to stop me. Later when I was a tween I would hide in my closet during my dad's rages, and surround myself with the old toys and other junk in there.

I literally sleep in a blanket fort. I cant breathe under a blanket but i do like it. Always have. My favourite thing as a kid was hiding under this desk we had in our old house, i liked to put a blanket over it and hide there. Under the couch, in the closet, whever its small and dark i like it. I think all kinds of kids like this.

When I was little, yes, definitely.

As for now?

Question: In the summertime? When it's 90 degrees? No way! Too hot!

In the wintertime, bring on the blankets ... :)
But I would probably just do the boring thing and sleep normally
rather than build a tent.

Yay, glad I'm not the only one who does it.

I do this all the time when I'm in the car. I wonder what people must think...

Lol, love the graphic Lilii  I recently invested in a small (39x41 inch) muslin blanket specifically so I could have something to hide under during the summer, which gets above 90 degrees fahreneit where I live. It's light, airy and breatheable, and the material is so thin that I can partially see through it, which adds to the feeling of protection, knowing that I can see people, but they (technically) can't see me.

I have always done this actually, usually when I am reading and it is too bright, I like being enveloped. at night though I do it whilst in the awkward hinterland of sleep and no sleep, that raging no man's cauldron, I begin imagining I am in different dangerous scenarios, often the blanket (I only have a thin one due to sensory issues) via the curtains silhouetting shows the quivering interactions of the wafting branches of the small forested patch down the garden and the streetlamps standing behind it, and I get an entrancing mesh of things to bounce my thought projections off, a few nights ago I imagined I was pinned beneath a tent at the foot of an icy slope being attacked by some feral snow creatures cause I had the tv on static which made everything white and eerie. I am a big kid still!

I do this all the time, especially when listening to music.
