It's well known that High Functioning Autism (HFA) presents that dichotomy of "not being quite able enough, yet not being quite disabled enough" in the world at large.
What has received much less focus is that same dichotomy here on WP - that is "not being quite able enough, yet not being quite disabled enough" here on WP.
This statement does not make any sense.
Not "fitting in to WP" is one issue.
Not fitting in to WP "because you are a high functioning autistic" is something else.
I relate to "not fitting into the outside real world" because you are in the twilight zone between the obviously normal and the obviously handicapped- because one is aspie or HFA ( as opposed to being either a normal acting NT, or being an overtly handicapped low functioning autistic). But being in that twilight zone doesnt interfere with participating in Wrongplanet. Since the NT part of the population is, for the most part, absent from WP it doesnt even make sense to suggest that that would be an issue here.
If you havent yet found a way to "fit in" then there is some other issue than that. Aspies and HFAs, if anything, rule the roost here. But actually you cant even tell anyone's functioning level here from their posts anyway. A highly articulate individual, whom you might assume must be a successful NT, may turn out to be someone in an institution who can barely go to the bathroom by themselves (im thinking an actual example-not me- but someone who used to be on the site). But they sound intelligent in writing text.
For myself - I guess that I must "fit in" because I have always taken it for granted that I never felt like I did not fit in.
