I see a lot of negativity on WP about autism negatively impacting a person's life but I think it's important to be realistic. I want to blow off some steam about autism things I get tired of and give others a chance to do the same. I don't deal with all these things all the time but here are some things that happened throughout my life:

1. Social butterflies misinterpreting my body language
2. People mistaking my lack of eye contact for disinterest, absentmindedness or boredom
3. People suggesting I blare music to block out noises that bother me
4. Being called weird or ret*d and told it's not the autism because "autism doesn't cause that"
5. Not relating to others
6. Not relating to popular culture: customs, traditions, music
7. The difficulty of finding people that accept me
8. Losing jobs
9. Trying to appear "normal" and still not passing in some circumstances
10. People not believing I have autism because I mask so well most of the times
11. People getting angry because I laugh at inappropriate times
12. Miscommunicating with NTs
13. Confusing people when I speak or act out of the norm

Feel free to reply with your own.

Feeling unaccepted as I am.
Feeling like I'm always under pressure from myself and caught genuinely between masking, myself as I am and mostly being emotionally lonely.
I hate knowing I'm different and making it almost impossible to find others to fit in with. Sometimes I hate staying at home 24/7 because it's easier to hide than burnout outside with social norms. I hate feeling like I can't totally understand me when I know what I kinda want to say/feel. I hate being selective mute when it comes conversation time.
I could go on forever. I hate being seen as just a sh***y dumbass that nobody likes. Oh but most of all I am very very much just wanting someone who accepts me as I am.

I agree.

I'm tired of...

...being unable to use big words on internet forums to win over an argument against intelligent people, because I have difficulties explaining things

...old threads being dragged up that contain triggering topics and WP not having any rules about it like other forums, the "related discussions" bit is the blame for that

... people sounding like the COVID vaccines aren't going to make any difference, instead of showing at least a hint of optimism

...the internet taking over people's lives

... Europe hating the UK over Brexit (if I'd known it would cause this much conflict, I would have never voted leave)

...not being able to hug my family or even see them properly; still not being allowed out your hometown so I still can't even see my family over the Easter holiday

... people suggesting Zoom whenever I mention the above  - it's not good enough, especially with my slow internet connection - I want to SEE my family, you know, like people did in the olden days...?

...not having any money, worrying about the economy

... feeling trapped and dictated by the government, all because of a virus that we now have vaccines for to reduce the risk of people getting ill from it

... YouTube's copyright policies

...my boyfriend's loud cough that hurts my ears

...the fact that people who smoke panic about the possible long-term damage COVID can cause, yet choosing to smoke which can also cause long-term damage (my boyfriend is now suffering from 30+ years of smoking)

...my mum not being well and so being unable to do all the things she used to do

...being a wimp

...my debilitating phobia of vomiting that most people, even doctors, don't understand fully

...my socially awkward cousin with learning difficulties still having more relationships with her NT peers than I do

...being unable to get married due to all these lockdowns, and with all the pessimism about the vaccines it feels like there will never be a time when we can finally get married

... political correctness

...being on antidepressants for 7 years but being scared to come off them because I think now I need them more than ever

...my overthinking that stops me living life to the fullest

...being on the autism spectrum

... animal torture, the lack of animal rights

... living below a noisy neighbour with an obsessive cleaning disorder and insomnia

... people my age not interested in me and thinking I'm stuck up, because of my teetotalism

...my lack of focus, and focussing draining my energy (I'm going to be exhausted after writing this long post so I think I'll stop now)

People thinking that all people with autism are as*holes
People thinking I must hate myself because I am not neurotypical

Captcha
Unnecessary Necrobumping
Executive Dysfunctions
Autistic people getting abused and murdered
The Autism Defence
Disagreements about what Autism actually is.
The power and influence of social media.
A lot of political stuff I won't poison this section with.

I am so tired of...

• Asking another Amateur Radio Operator for technical advice, and receiving instead a sales pitch for every piece of obsolete and broken junk in his garage.

• Asking Kaiser-Permanente for an appointment to receive any coronavirus vaccine available, and receiving instead another colo-rectal cancer test kit in the mail.

• Asking members of the Anaheim City Council for action on the homeless problem, and receiving instead requests for donations to their re-election campaigns.

• The lack of interest in classic tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons, Paranoia, Rifts, and Traveller.

• The large number of racists and racists-by-proxy on this very website who have nothing better to do than praise Trump and insult any other person who stands up for equality and basic human rights.

• The open support for cop-killers and mass-murderers by certain members of this very website.

• The rampant misogyny in massive multiplayer online role-playing games.
