I do. The reason why I fear being in public is because everyone is reading my mind as mentioned before. I get panic attacks because of it. I know that people are talking about me where ever I go because of the way I act and think. I try to act normally but since others control my behavior this is nearly impossible. I don't actually avoid social situations becuase of the panic attacks. I don't want my condition controlling me and what I do. In fact I might be going to a huge event with tens of thousands of people next month. It is a gaming expo of some kind in Seattle called the "PAX" event. I hope to go there but just looking at a picture of a past event seems to give me anxiety. People are everywhere! So, if you have social anxiety what do you do about it? I've had social anxiety for the reasons mentioned for about a year but crowds bothered me for much longer than that. I believe this problem is common in autistic people but I want to hear from you about it. I can't think in crowds of human beings at all. They all stare at me.

I can't say that I have that problem.

i don't feel that others can read my mind or are staring at me; i just feel very uncomfortable/fear talking in a conversation for an extended period of time . I don't like the high expectation that comes with continuing talking with ease.

I don't like all the excessive and constant noise and movement in crowed areas. I find that listening to music helps in these situations. I avoid engaging in conversation with people in loud places. If they don't want to go somewhere quieter (they hardly ever do, NTs, just don't get it) then I usually make up some excuse and go away.

Cant say I have social anxiety but I have general Anxiety and severe OCD with my AS... I cant stand the thought of being around people all the time because those with average intelligence can tell there is something different about me and those who dont see it mock me and make me become the outcast of the crowd..

I have really bad social anxiety. Although it's definitely not my worst problem right now, I really hate it. Prozac worked for me but I had to stop taking it because of side effects. I might be gonig to the docors again next week though, so I might try some other ssri or something.

I have allot of social anxiety because of poor of social skills and lacking conversation skills. I would be terrified of making a mistake or doing something wrong. Zoloft helped me some with the social anxiety. I don't feel like everyone is staring at me as much when I go out. Still have the fear thou, but i don't let it stop me from going somewhere or doing what i want to do.
