Well, after thinking about it long and hard... And having the grad advisor really want me and my desire to get away from Michigan... I'm going to go to grad school in August I've decided!! ! I'm gonna talk to the grad advisor and disability services on Tuesday...

Anyway the lady said it's easy to get around that satellite campus and town without a car because they have free public transportation and I can be apart of the on-campus housing and meal plan... That town is small but has all the basic necessities...

Anyway, I'm just asking about good sources of scholarships for the disabled... But with already what I qualify for it shouldn't be hard to make up the difference...

Time to change my life... I got to!! !

Congratulations on choosing your goal!

Try googling for scholarships and fellowships (fellowships are more relevant to graduate study) plus keywords such as disability or autism.

Congratulations on moving toward your future path. It will be worth the move to a new place.

You might want to contact the university’s financial aid department on any scholarships/grants that they have available. Most of the universities that I have been at had listings of scholarships/grants for students to apply for. I think that federal equal opportunity laws require them to distribute this information. You might even be able to do applications all online now with the pandemic. There are many opportunities out there, many go unfilled each year. I wish you good luck in finding the ones right for you.

I should add:

I'm not sure what department you are to be studying in, but also apply to things in your subject area, and any other groups that may apply to you, e.g. "returning student," "women," and so on.

For instance I know you like birds, so I googled "graduate fellowship ornithology" and came up with this result: https://americanornithology.org/profess ... /students/

Good luck!

What kind of grad program have you been accepted into? It depends a LOT on the field you are in, but in mine PhD students usually get a tuition waiver + a stipend either paid through research grants (research assistantship) or through a teaching assistantship. Even in my field this is less common for Master's students though, and again, fields and countries vary.

The best person to ask is your graduate advisor (assuming you have one at this point). They will be able to tell you all about what steps you can take to secure support internally (within the institution), although these kinds of opportunities are unrelated to neurodiversity, so you wouldn't need to disclose to get access.

Congratulations! :)
