Can people with AS have obsessions about other people?

I don't know if it's the "correct" term, but the word Latino always struck me as the same kind of expression as -- for example -- referring to Native Americans as "Indian". It seems rather inaccurate more than anything else, especially since the Latin people were from Italy, even though Spanish language is directly descended from a Latin dialect.
That's just my two cents worth, which may only be worth two cents -- who knows. I'm "Pakeha" which is Anglo-Celtic person living in New Zealand. So no "Latin" blood.

Then there is the thing where people will call anyone who looks Latino(or whatever the proper term) a Mexican...I usually use the term Hispanic, because I can't automaticly assume what country they are from.
I dated an Ecuadorian for 6 years and the girlfriend of his best friend would be passive aggressively racist towards him by constantly calling him a Mexican even though she knew he was from Ecuador. Growing up in Houston, I have often been the white minority in schools and at work etc...and my peers were El Salvadorian and Colombian, and Mexican, and Honduran...etc.....
Is Latino a better term to use than Hispanic?

This is how its explained in wikipedia, it talks about rejection of the term as well, so there is a bit of controversy about it:
