I don't have trouble keeping up WHILE watching most movies, but it is hard to distinguish if I do or not the first time I watch something, as I often put it on repeat and watch it over and over for a week. By the end of it, I'm reciting the lines while not watching it, I have no clue who is saying what and all, of course, but I get the basic idea of it.

I can never recognize a character by their name when discussing a movie after watching it, but if someone mentions the way they were standing, or a particular scene, I will ask if it was the guy who was wearing such-and-such a thing. I can remember clothing and all, but I cannot remember for the life of me their character names or real names if they are used to try to get me back on track.

It's very common to hear me say when discussing a movie "and then that one guy with the red coat used that thing and chased the guy in the black pants...." lol.

I have trouble distinguishing characters if they have similar hair and cant really keep track of names in movies; also on shows I watch often, if 2 or more 'special appearing actors' have the same hair, I loose complete track of the story.

Animation is usually easier to keep track of. I also have issues with fast action sequences - especially if the camera shots are edited.

Interestingly I went to the movies the other day with a child for the Harry Potter movie. I have no idea what went on really, and was astounded at the extent to which the movie 'buzzed me out'. I was so mesmerized by the scope of the visuals (on screen) and the sound intensity, and ended up lost in visual details (tracking individual features) and unable to process the stimulus as a cohesive whole (I could track a detail within a scene but not the scene itself).

I don't usually have trouble distinguishing between characters (unless they're all dressed the same). But the plot line -especially when things are implied, or not pointed out- is my weak point. I are mastermind :)

If a movie doesn't interest me, it loses my attention very quickly and I fail to follow the plot. I also have this problem with reading novels.

War movies is especially difficult. I watched Saving Private Ryan for the first time last night and I could not for the life of me keep track of the characters because with them all being in uniform you really only had their faces to go by. I could not even identify Tom Hanks.

For some reason, most action movies bore the hell out of me. I just find it hard to follow movies unless they're heavy on dialogue and tell you everything that's happening.

Yes I do have trouble following James Bond movies, but love stories bore me the most of all.
I also much rather watch science documentaries than science fiction movies.
