how do you afford all your medical costs? do you get health insurance through your employer? does the government pay? Did you get it through a group?

well... I have not had inshurance since collage, afterwards that was over, so I pay outa pocket if I need a dentist visit, new glasses or have to go to the Dr.s I pay outa pocket for everything, tho I dont have any perscriptions, the only stuff I take is pain medication, which ill admit I obtain illegally, at a very high price, and I abuse it, I use it as a social crutch, or helps me get through a bad day, but I dont take it for its intended purpose, to dull pain, as I dont suffer from cronic pain.

Someday, when I get my act together, find a good girl, and look forward to a family, I will quit, as the money and health will be needed for others, and not myself, and I will invest outa pocket for inshurance for them all. Im glad not to need much health intervention, for now, hehe.

I have had medical coverage from my jobs since I was 29 but before that I had no coverage for about 12 years. In college I went to there clinic, which was cheap and planned parenthood. The few other times I had to have medical care I was making such a small amount of money that I was temporarily covered by the state medical program in MN.This was only twice for emergency situations. There were many times that I had broncitus, sinus infections, sprained wrists, etc that I just had to go with out care. Many things will clear up with time.It probably made me have a stronger immunity system to not be taking anti biotics every time I got sick but it would have been nice to be out of pain a little faster.

I have health insurance with my job. My union at the job gives us a dental plan and a plan for glasses & hearing aids.

I haven't really used the health insurance fully yet except for some minor things.

I had health insurance until I was 17, then was on the road and living on the streets until I was 43, when I became a junior in college and was able to go to the campus clinic and psychologist, (who had NO idea what the hell was wrong with me, by the way!) This was pretty basic coverage, and no hospitalization, etc.

After graduation, I didn't have medical attention until I got a job in the DOTCOM industry and had actual group medical insurance through my employer at age 47 for two years. After my job moved to India, I didn't have medical insurance again until last year at age 56 another group policy through an employer. In the state where I reside I can have the same plan for more money if I don't have a job anymore, but no job, no money for premiums so it is not that I am denied insurance, it just means I can't have it because I can't afford it. (HA!) So they are not denying me treatment, (as it was explained to me) they are only denying me coverage.

Of course, Autism/Asperger's Syndrome is not covered under any health insurance. CoMorbids are, but you have to keep the A/AS out of it, or it is considered the 'cause' of the CoMorbids and not covered.

So, all in all, my medical needs are pretty hit and miss. I have a few long term issues (sleep apnea/hypopnea, hypothyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, depression, PTSD) that go untreated or unmonitored for years sometimes. (like when I was on health insurance I was started on Celexa for depression, lost my insurance and had to move, I was unmonitored begging scripts from low income clinics for 3 years until I just cold turkey stopped the medication on my own. It took me 18 months before I could get myself back together to get a decent job again after that! I could tell you how I lived, etc, but you didn't ask for that information, Alex.)

I have an HMO plan that I get from work. I make a partial contribution of $15.00 taken out of
my paycheck (this is tax deferred) and there is a $25.00 co-pay at the doctor's office.

My employer, the State of Florida, pays 85% of the cost of Capital Health Plan. I have $50 a month payroll deducted before taxes. Office visits are $15. Generic perscription drugs are $10/month.

The NHS is not exactly great, but better than nothing. The NHS is paid by National Insurance. But I wouldn't be able to afford private health insurance. I end up having to pay/go to private care to actually get some things done when the NHS falls short.

Prescriptions are £6.65 whether 3 months or 1. 3 months being the max you can get in one go.

Concerta is £45 for 1 month private. At the moment I have one month that I had to pay private. Why? Because there is a stupid rule that the person doing the diagnosis has to do the prescription for the very 1st one. The centre I had to go was private. Some GPs flaunt the rules, even though my GP thinks its a stupid rule she doesn't break the rules. So next time it will be £6.65 a one tablet is not working it could be 2 or 3 months or I’ll have to start all over again.
