never got asd tested...
When I first began reading about Autism I discovered, much to my surprise, that it seemed to be describing
me. To get an "outside" opinion I asked my bride to read about Autism; she did and agreed that it seemed to fit me...and she noticed she also had a number of Autism traits.
She is clearly ADHD and in my reading about Autism I learned that the "strong" end of ADHD (where she is) shared some traits with the "mild" end of Autism (where I am). I found some things online comparing and contrasting Asperger's Syndrome and ADHD and, after reviewing them, she decided to stick with ADHD and leave Autism for me.
It is possible to have both ADHD and Autism but the overlap of symptoms makes it confusing. That's why we get to amuse the professionals who do the formal assessments. (Well, I don't know if we all amuse all of the professionals but I do know I amused the psychologist who assessed me...and I admit her amusement was fair.)
