How do NTs think?

I know that people with autism think differently but im confused on how neurotypicals think. All the articles i can find written for neurotypicals and assume you already know how they think.

I can picture how they might think but I can't explain it in words.

Just keep reading those books, and imagine the reverse of whatever they say about autistics. Like once I flipped through a book written by a lady shrink for women ( I believe it was by Dr. Joyce Brothers, years ago) to explain how men think, and got some knowledge of the opposite- how women think differently than me.

And don't forget emotions going several directions and which may or may not be accurately and logically connected to life happenings.

I would say that there are large variations in the way, many people with ASD and Aspies think.

I will answer this from the viewpoint of how do I (an Aspie) think over the majority of NTs.

Most people (NTs) are very limited in the scope and detail in their thinking. But on the other hand some Aspies like myself think across many different areas. They explore an extremely wide range of issues. An unlike most NTs my learning did not stop around the end of high school but continued on every day trying to figure out the mysteries of life. I am 73 years old and have suffered a massive stroke, but my brain still is growing and growing.

NTs are usually judging someone if they don't quite meet their expected standards, even if they're other NTs. NTs are happy and comfortable when around familiar behaviours and thinking and appearance. Anyone outside their realm of normal standards could make them uncomfortable, and they express it by laughing, staring or whispering. Sometimes having somebody else's differences explained clearly to them often helps them feel less uncomfortable but not always.

NTs are not a different species. There’s a lot of variation, as there is among members on this site.

Because life aint far. THEY are the majority, and have all of the power. So you have to learn how they think so you can survive even though they do not have to do the same for you. In other words to survive autistics have to learn how to be good house n****rs!
