Do you have a real need for natural light?

Is it just me or does anyone else share this hangup? I need natural light wherever I am. I find it very difficult indeed to go into a room that has no windows.

I can sense the presence of natural light if it's nearby... If I am in a room without any windows that has a doorway to another room and in that other room there is a window and natural night I will know it without even seeing that window. Even a tiny window with a fragment of natural light in the room next to where I am, I will know there is something other than flurescent light. I hate synthetic lighting. I need lots of windows and crave lots of natural light.

Do you need natural light and windows to let the light in or do you cope OK with synthetic lighting?

Light has no affect on me whatsoever, I am equally happy in sunlight, artificial light and no light.

I find I'm generally ok but in the past few years I have felt less happy during the winter months, I put this down to the lack of daylight due to the short days, apparently it is quite common and is known as SAD (seasonal affective disorder). In October last year, I went out and bought some new lights for my garage (where I spend alot of my evenings), these lights are 6500k (daylight simulation), and I now have 240w rather than 60w. I feel much better this year than previous and have put it down to my new lighting.

In some rooms, I prefer a warmer color temperature (like bedroom). My office is around 5500K (that's the temperature of sunlight).

The source of lighting shouldn't matter. Flourescent led, etc are all capable of producing light temperatures of varied frequencies. All the lights in my house are flourescent and LEDs (except for the lava lamp for obvious reasons).

I'm more of the oposite, I'd rather keep my windows closed than open.

I prefer naturally lit areas. My job is perfect for it. I have lots of windows with tinting on each pane. It takes the edge off the sunlight. The only artificial light is in the office and kitchen. I usually avoid those places because the fluorescent lighting makes my eyes tired. I cant spend much time in a fluorescent lit room because it is hard to focus with the flickering of the gas inside the tubes. It almost puts me into a trance. I have the same problem with the computer in the office. I pick up the flickers too easily and it wreaks havoc on my vision.
I am thinking about getting some rose colored lenses for my reading glasses to help with that. For some reason it seems that if i wear lenses with a pink hue, things are a little more tolerable.

Yes. When I don't have natural light, my energy plummets like a lead ball and I become quite depressed and lethargic. This morning, for example, I had to pry myself off the mattress despite having plenty of sleep; it was dark and cloudy. On a day that is bright and sunny, I'll wake up filled with energy regardless of sleep quantity. I desperately need natural light. In fact, my doctor works in a building where all the rooms have no windows. The waiting room and exam rooms - no natural light enters at all. I always wonder to myself how he stands it. He goes in there when it's barely been light an hour, and stays until it's dark again (in the winter) unless he goes out to lunch. I cannot imagine being able to go through that and not going nuts.

Natural light... oh my god... it actually exists... im always in front of my laptop screen :P

LCD backlight is good light to me :P

I can live without it.

The only thing that bothers me is the frequencies of some fluorescent lights. Other than that, I am perfectly fine in artificial light only...

Although, I do end up losing track of time in artificial light...

depends; I'm happy with artificial light at night. Daytime, I prefer sunny days (and in the South, lately, we get a LOT of them...;)

I spend probably 90% of my time indoors so don't really get much natural light...nor do I feel a need for it.

I like the dark. I could live in a cave. Natural light is okay if it's dim and bluish, like on a cloudy or snowy day.
If I step out into the sun on a bright day, I can get sunburnt in minutes.

I like it to be either really dark, or really light; although I prefer light and get really anxious if the lights aren't to their full brightness.
