I know when I was a little girl, and even now as an adult certain sounds can calm my brain and body in this chaotic world.

What sounds soothe you, if you are in the midst of an overload, or are just facing a stressful, or new situation?

Some of these are:

1. The rustling of trees in the wind.

2. Scat singing

3. Oldtime Jazz

4. The crickets at night

5. Bobwhites' call

6. Sweeping broom

7. My Mama (pronounced Mawmaw) singing Old Negro Spirituals around the house
(grandmother...She has long passed on)

8. NPR( National Public Radio )

9. Cecelia Bartoli ( opera singer...her voice sounds like an angel )

10. Bjork, Tori Amos, Angelique Kidjo, Ella Fitzgerald, K.D. Lang's voices...they all
a certain rich body to their voice that what ever is upsetting to me disappears
all that remains is that velvety warm voice.

11. Sizzling from a cast iron skillet.

Falling snow - If it's quiet and you listen closely it makes a swooshing sound, has to be heavy snow though.

The gurgling sound the coffee maker creates when it's almost done brewing.

Electric razors - This is probably due to synaesthesia… love how it feels when the barber shaves my neck with the electric razor.

Yes,love white noise. Also have a "sleep machine" that makes a sound like a train on the tracks that I really love.I also love rain and moving water sounds.Wind in the trees actually scares me,as do many night nature sounds...I think really bad sacary movies ruined these sounds for me....

Lightning and its thunder.

Rain and its pitter-patter.

Rustling leaves from trees caused by the wind; wind and its howl.

Dingoes howling.

Driving on the highway - the sound of the tires on the road, and the wind hitting the car etc. Nothing like it in the world. :D

I like the sound of rain, music, thunder, fast wind, rustling leaves, and a fan on low. Usually, a fan on high or medium will scare me. I also like the sound of a ticking watch (not clock) and the sound of air coming out of a vent.
