Hello,

If you have PDA within your autistic spectrum, what are some self help strategies you've learned or found useful? Please feel free to include whatever you find helpful, even anxiety strategies. I've very recently discovered PDA and I cried.

TL;DR my entire life has been dictated by the ADHD/ODD diagnosis but I've come to find out the hard way how incorrect that was. Then more recently I stumbled upon PDA after shutting down for the 5th time this weekend and I've never been more relieved to see that I'm truly not as crazy as I felt like I was.

I may be a bit dense, but could you tell me what PDA is and perhaps describe it?

^ it's pathological demand avoidance. That much I know.

I only recently heard about this stuff. I had no idea that it existed, but what I've read (admittedly, not much) resonates with me. Though in all honesty, I'm not sure how much of my crap is executive function issues or pda. I don't know enough about it to be able to pick and pull that apart. I'd like to say that I have some words of wisdom here, some coping skills, tips and tricks, and so on... but I do not. I have a hunch my life would run a lot more smoothly if I did. Hopefully someone can chime in here with some good pointers. I'd be interested in hearing them as well.

I read this and couldn't get "Public Display of Affection" out of my head.
I definitely don't have that.

Huh. Learned something new. This applies to me somewhat, but not to an extreme.

Now, I dated someone who would get very angry and upset whenever everyday tasks were brought up, extremely resistant to suggestions. Is that a permanent condition?
