This is a question I've been deeply confused about. Basically, how many of our traits can be attributed to autism or how many can be attributed to our unique personality, as individuals. I've been pondering this question for a very long time as I question my identity. I am not interested in relationships. I have high cognitive empathy but low affective empathy, which is apparently rare of autistic people? I don't feel like it's as rare as they say, at least for higher 'functioning' folks, but I'm unsure.
I have no idea what I want to do with my life, but I live a bit of a nihilistic lifestyle, except I have some discipline. I workout regularly for example. I partake in some substance use, like alcohol and marijuana, but I am by no means an addict. I struggle to find meaning in my life and don't believe in religion. I find more home in philosophy, in particular post modernism and existentialism. I'm a bit of an anti-natalist. I find it easy to make friends, but I'm introverted so I don't spend time with the friends I do have as often as I should.
Politically I'm sort of left leaning, but more center-left.
I am curious how much of this is common among autistic people, and how much just comes down to my unique personality and I'm also curious how others feel regarding themselves and their own identities. Everyone is really unique, and we are all still somewhat a product of our cultures, but being autistic might increase the likelihood of some of my characteristics I guess.
