I hate forgetting things, it’s more worse now. I had a little meltdown, cuz first my cat was on top of my chair, she jumped off onto my table, she knocked over my water bottle, water spilling on the table & the floor, I got paper towels to clean it up, I got little upset cuz I’m doing everything myself. Then later, I mixed up my switches, I have two switches together, the first one for the porch light, the second one controls the outlet in the living room, I mixed them up. I wanted to charge my phone, I plugged in my iPhone charger, I have a power strip, the light didn’t work, I panicked, I had lots of anxiety, I have a floor fan plugged into that same outlet, the fan didn’t come on, I didn’t know what to do, I was also breathing fast, then I saw my porch light was on, then I realized I mixed up the switches, the fan came on. It can be dangerous forgetting stuff. I forgot to move something near the stove, I thought the stove was on a little bit, there was a little fire, I put it out. I wish I can just turn off the fire in the stove, it would save me money if the fire is out.

Tape a note to the switches before you burn down the whole neighborhood.

You were thinking "forgetful". That is, you forgetting things.

"Forgettable" means other people forget about you shortly after meeting you. It's synonymous with "not memorable".

So, to become less forgetful, write notes to yourself and/or write a list on a whiteboard, both displayed in an area you can't overlook, like your refrigerator. Cross out or erase each item as you complete it.

For me I think that's related to my likely ADHD. I live in the moment, this one and this one, and don't remember that one. It has its Pros (I'm an optimist - don't remember the last time, let's give it another try!) and Cons (I'm anxious - what did I forget? what did I miss?). I leave myself notes.

You mean forgetful.

Being forgettable means being easily forgotten by other people.

I can have trouble thinking of the right subject for my post, you were right, I should have put ‘Being Forgetful’ It’s too late to change the subject, the editing button disappear :( It was late at night, it can be hard to think of the right subject.

I do things like that a lot. I always figure my issues are related to executive functioning. I'm notorious for making a fine pot of hot water because I forgot to add the coffee grounds, or trying to remember where I sat the keys but they're in my hand or pocket, I walk away from pots of water on the stove I'm making for tea and discover later a nearly empty pan. The list goes on. I once left a dead appliance in my kitchen for months even though it was in my way and stressed me out because when I'd leave the kitchen it was like it became erased from my mind, until I got back in the kitchen and was stressed about it being in the way again, cycle repeated for months until I finally shoved it down the basement stairs and it sat in the basement for another couple years before some scrappers took it. I ramble. Point is. I get it and it sucks.

A few times when I’m making coffee, I can put water in my cup & forget about the coffee, I just put coffee creamer in the cup, I make coffee in the microwave. Once I almost put coffee in my cereal :D
