Here is a nasty video about Autism shown on A Current Affair.

Quote:
It involves attaching electrodes to a child's arms, legs and torso. When kids misbehave, a supervisor at the centre presses a remote control to give the unruly youngster an electronic skin shock.

I have done some research and ECT just happened to be invented by Ugo Cerletti
a psychiatrist in Mussolini's Italy and had since widely practiced widely in NAZI Germany

I had two relatives now dead (one(my great grand mother) born in the 1890's other her daugher) that had multiply electroshock treatments. In the good old days where you could break a leg in the process.

Sounds like child abuse to me.

Shall I call a Social Worker?

Well, it's the Judge Rotenberg Center somewhere in America, and it looked akin to what the Nazis were doing to POWs in WW2. And the weird thing is, America calls itself a compassionate country! I know the report mentioned the practice would start here, but the Current Affairs host said that Australia wouldn't introduce it. All in all, it just seems barbaric to even think of it; but the problem is too, maybe parents tried to dope their kids up to keep them out of their 'busy lifestyles' and even that didn't work.

That is absolutly horrible. I know, that you can modify behavior by administering a tiny electric shock in the brain (one would probably not feel it, but enough is not known about the brain yet to effect behavior. CUrrently, you can cause adutiory visual hillucinations doing this, and their is another treatment where this works, but to just attatch electrodes to someone, and inflict a shock that they certainly will feel is a form of tourture!

Electroshock aversion therapy is what they use to train attack dogs with.

You know thinking about it most of the "uncontrollable" children they were showing appeared to have sensory seeking issues.

Why not give the kid a remote as well and cut out the whole middle part of: need stimuli - misbehave badly enough to warrant a shock - get shock - stimuli achieved?

Probably so. Sometimes it seems that we at times care more for animals than we do other people.

That woman who was leading the show was actively encouraging everyone that it is a good idea. B*tch.

I must mention that Ninemsn is spawn. It doesn't load properly. The buffering means that it stops every five seconds, and its riddled with advertisements. I'm going to another website.
