I'm curious as to what kind of obsessions everyone here had when they were kids? I don't remember having any major ones before the age of 12 or so.

I never had any obsessions? Oh, do you mean special interests? As a kid I was collecting stamps, but it was just a hobby. Sure, it consumed all my free time, but it was worth it. I specialized in European stamps from before WW2. I especially liked those from the inflation period which had "10 Mio." stamped on as their new value :D

superheroes and mad scientists/inventors.

at any given time i was usally digging specific characters (tmnt, xmen, my own inventions) or branches of science/types of inventing (!? better way to phrase that?) and of course there is overlap between the two obsessions. that basically kept me occupied from when i was old enough to think for myself until i discovered band :D.

interesting thread idea! might reveal interesting info about people.

Collecting woodlice and snails, Collecting rubbers/erasors, collecting pens...a very early obsession was that book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'-I loved the little holes in the pages :) I also started collecting old things very early on. Jigsaw puzzles was another obsession of mine. I cycled through obsessions pretty quickly and still do.

I had hundreds of obsessions, the most memorable being the obsession with America's Most Wanted when I was 11 and 12. My best friend's mother's boyfriend looked and acted EXACTLY the way this wanted fugitive looked and acted. He looked EXACTLY the same except his hair was red instead of blond, his eyes were a different color and he had freckles. He dressed well like the guy, drove expensive cars like the guy, had a Russian birth certificate like the guy, was violent to women (after being extremely nice to them) like the guy, drank heavily like the guy... we thought it was him! We called in on him. They determined that it wasn't him (just by talking to us and comparing things like eye color and hair color... I think it was a typo that got him off; I think I spelled his name wrong when I told them, because they couldn't find him on their computers), but how did they know? What's odd is that my friend found his Russian birth certificate in her mother's room, and when her mother walked in and saw her reading it, she took it and ripped it up! We weren't scolded though, and we never got in trouble. :D

I hated Pokemon; all the kids in my elementary school were obsessed with it while I was obsesswed with America's Most Wanted. They worshipped those little monsters! I found it so boring and infantile. Though I didn't tell them. I was a real snob. :D
