Should I call my Aspergers Autism? I don’t know what to call it. Is Autism can be disabled?

Call it what makes you the most comfortable or what seems like what best explains your issues.

On Wrong Planet you are not going to be hassled for your choice.

The key to communication is to be understood. If you are talking with people completely unfamiliar with the subject, you might use either term since it will be incumbent on you to explain what it means. If you are talking with people who are more knowledgeable, you still might be able to use either term as they would be more likely to be familiar with the distinction.

The problem in communication comes with those who have a particular slant. These people will feel obligated to "correct" you if you use a term with which they do not agree. Those in education, or the therapy industry are more likely to impress upon others their preferences.

As an older person I would recommend using Aspergers in talking with older people because the old definition of autism was children with brain malformation or damage so sever that they seldom made it to adulthood.

Call it whatever you want. You can decide what fits you and feels best for you. You know your body and your symptoms. You can choose which word fits your situation best. People should respect whatever you choose.

Why not just talk about your struggles and strengths instead?
Honesty is the best option!
