Do more autists have OCD, than the general population?

One thing I've noticed lately is that my friends with autism have a disproportionately higher instance of OCD, I myself was diagnosed with this disorder when I was 13.
I'm wondering if this co-morbidity is common amongst those with ASD?

I am fairly certain that if one looks into the science behind this, they would find that yes, OCD is a common co-morbid of autism, more so than occurring unrelated to autism.

Yes, 17% is the comorbidity in that article.
But, OCD can be described as "being stuck in a doorway."
The behaviors autists have can seem similar, but have big differences compared to those with OCD.

Someone with OCD cannot get rid of their behaviors. One might think that an OCD involving stoves could be eliminated by getting rid of stoves. Get rid of all stoves and the OCD will develop something to replace that behavior!

It is easy to see the differences if an autist and OCD live together for a long time.

Yes. Apparently, it's just over than 10 times more common in people diagnosed with ASD than in the general population.

That's a very insightful article. I didn't realise there was that much if an overlap between autism and OCD.

I'm not dx with it, which is strange because I'm at 99% on that Monotropism quiz thing, regarding hyperfocus.
I don't have compulsions but I have a heck of a lot of obsessions - aka rabbit holes and SI.

I'm not surprised that it seems to be true. I was dx'd with ocd years ago, not sure if I still meet the criteria for it though as I got help for it and it's no longer problematic to me in my life these days. I think that lack of problem with it disqualifies me. I'm glad for that. OCD sucks.
