I see people driving around all the time, saying they support autistic people, but I can't ever find one that says that the driver of the car is autistic..

Do they not think we can drive? Or am I not looking hard enough? I want one for my car..

I might make my own, it would read "Yea, I got Autism, what about it?"

There are a few. For example on page 15 there's one that says "autistic just the way I am". Some are more aggressive then I'd like for my taste, though.

How about "I drive to the same places, every day. So my advice to you: stay the **** outta my way!"

That's too much for me, I don't want something like that, don't need people honking their horn at me, or tailgating me. ;) (here where i live in florida, they would do that for a bumper sticker like that)

That would work. You can get those rolls of magnetic backing to affix it to your car. I've been thinking about ordering a bumper sticker, and using the magnetic backing to stick it on so that it's removable. I'm not sure how you would get it to be waterproof if you printed your own out, though.

I got a lamination machine, I could use that, and try and get it to laminate only one side by just making it adhere by heat.

If I got to the point where I could pass the driving test and attain my license, I believe advertising any kind of difference would be counterproductive. I am working on trying to be as functional as possible. I was looked on as different for most of my life.

Well the point of the bumper sticker, is to prove that I'm just like everyone else on the road. I drive the same, I handle lane merging perfectly, and do the same things they do.

Why would you want to advertise on your car that the driver is autistic? This might make you more likely to get pulled over by the police and also might cause people to go ballistic with road rage around you. Many people including those in power such as cops believe all autistic people are the same as ret*ds. Half of the autistics I know don't drive so that's probably why there are no ready made bumperstickers like you are looking for.

That's the polices, and the other drivers problem. If they want to support autistics, but not let those who did pass the driving test drive, then they are hypocrites in my book.

And if the police pulled me over, i'd fight it in court, it's not like they even bother to show up anyway.

I don't want to hide my autism from people, I'm happy I got Aspergers, it's been a great advantage to me, and I shouldn't have to treat it like a disease, because it's NOT.

I have a bumper sticker my friend got for me that says "I'm only speeding because I really have to poop" haha. I saw a bumper sticker on cafepress.com that says AUTIES ROCK, I like that one. I would like one that say "Watch out, I got Autism, and I know how to use it!" If I could find one that says that I would get it in a heart beat haha. Right now I just have the little ribbon one that says autism awareness, and that other bumper sticker my friend gave to me.
