I started on this medication on tuesday. I gotta take it twice a day, and though it has kept me calm and helped with the tremors, it gives me terrible drowsiness and dry mouth and I have been getting continuous panic attacks. I am gonna call my doctor again on monday and let him know how I am doing.
Anyone ever take this before? Did it help?
It has helped my mood a bit, but I feel a bit more autistic, that make sense? I get even more concentrated on my interests, like, I sat down and did 10 find a word puzzles in one sitting before I noticed i was being talked to.
am have been on almost the max dose of tegretol [carbamazepine] for years and can say that the side effects will wear off, they are only short term, especially drowsiness and the doping out.
might find that they affect hearing for some time-they can make hearing sound higher pitched-but it goes away.
if it carries on being like a sedative-are probably on too much of it.
it works on am ADHD [the hyperactivity part] to,some doctors do use it for ADHD but because of the possible liver problems and side effects it's not widely used.
it's also used for behavioral problems, either associated with autism or not-it's a common drug in residential homes,it has helped am a bit with meltdowns,ie,not getting them every day when set off.
