In united states, "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"
According to your post, you are in the united kingdom
Generally speaking, a business can legally refuse to serve a customer without having to give a reason, but they don't have the right to refuse service on the grounds of discrimination against a legally-protected characteristic such as race, gender, disability etc. So if you think you can make it fly then you could possibly try a lawsuit. You'd have to be one of those protected species of course, and the business would have to be unable to give a good reason for denying you service, such as health and safety grounds. Another, cheaper approach would be to wait until they've changed the staff and then go back there in the hope that nobody will recognise you.
Personally I wouldn't bother, because McDonalds stands for a lot of things I strongly dislike. But that's just my preference.

McDonald's has a high turnover rate, but, as a customer, you don't have a method of finding out when a particular employee stops working there. However, even if nobody is always on shift, even though they do work there
Some (not all) lawsuits take two years. Some lawyers charge $600 hour. Even if you have the moral high road, the outcome is not guaranteed. Maybe McDonald's has its own, more expensive lawyers.
You might not have physical evidence of what happened. Some video tapes not admissible in court. You would have to get subpoenaed to court for a lot of days and miss work and other activities.
McDonald's could countersue you or take out revenge on you
The cheaper and easier approach have been taking since getting banned from Safeway, is just go to a different Safeway
McDonald's can do anything it wants, legal or illegal, and unless you wina civil lawsuit, you can't do anything about it
