Last weekend, I participated in a 2.7-mile walk for Autism around the city of Sumner, WA. It was put on by the Autism Speaks charity foundation. I was the first to arrive back to where we started and afterwards, I walked a little more, making my total distance somewhere around 5 miles.

Anyway, I saw many families there and a few autistic children. What I didn't know was that one of the autistic people there was an American Idol contender who was belittled by Simon Cowell while they were in Seattle. The guy, if I remember right, was friends with the guy who was called a lemur. As a result of the insulting comments, the two received apology letters and a trip to the Super Bowl (boy am I jealous). Anyway, he sang God Bless America to start off the walk. I never knew he was autistic until the walk. I also might have seen individuals who might have had AS, including a little girl who was trying to get ahead of me. I have also met parents who have children with AS and when I told them a summary of my life with AS, they were impressed and I can only assume that people like me would give them hope for their aspie children. To sum up, that was what I experienced at the Autism walk.
