Heh. I used to love trains and wanted a model train set when I was really young. Then we moved to this house that was right down the way from a rail yard, And since it had four railroad tracks running through our back yard, there were loud freight trains passing at all hours.

It got old really quick.

Thanks Asp-Z for bringing back memories of my childhood. I still love trains to this day though. 8)

I'm a fan of steam, trains, I'm not so much a fan of modern trains though, you should definitely get the Orient Express just for the experience.

Also the Eurostar is quite cheap from the UK to Germany, Holland, France, Switzerland or Belgium, definitely worth a go if you're not a fan of flying or driving across Europe for hours on end.

My dad always loved trains! When I was growing up, he built a three level table for his collection. He had to sell it years later, but I used to buy him calendars with train pictures for a while. Then I stopped after I learned he'd sold them, not wanting to remind him of something painful. Besides, the table had been in pieces for years anyway, after he took it apart to move it from the apartment we lived in to the new house, and he never reassembled it, even when my parents split up and he got an apartment. But my memory of his love for trains lives on, and this was a cool reminder for me. I love my dad. :)
