Yes, I absolutely do. I am a screenwriter/musician
and I absolutely expect to sell my tv pilot very soon.
I've had it for over 10 years.
I've been to NYC and Los Angeles. I've invested a great deal of time, energy and money.
I simply cannot continue my current lifestyle where I survive on benefits.
I have not been realizing my potential.
The thing with the film/tv/screenwriting industry - in my experience it can be very difficult to break through.
I have very few contacts. I just re-listed my script on a website where you pay to list by the month.
I've been reluctant to do this because I've done so many times in the past with no result. My script has placed in a screenwriting contest. I was excited about that.
As a screenwriter you learn there are many people who offer consultant/editing services. I have definitely utilized some of these over the years. Yet at a certain point you have to have confidence in what you have and stop paying for these.
If you do, you'll go broke.
A lot of people will tell you your script isn't ready and that you lack experience. A lot of them also tell you your script isn't sufficient because they want you to fork over $100s of dollars for their consultative services. As I said, you have to at a certain point be happy with what you have or you'll go broke spending your money on opinions.
Anyways, I bit the bullet this morning and spent $30 to list my script on a website. I did not want to do this but decided to because I'm not getting any results. It's been on many websites in the past but not for a number of years. I am anticipating a sale. A major breakthrough. I don't anticipate renewing my 1 month membership. That means my script didn't sell.
I expect a major breakthrough because I deserve it.
