http://personality-testing.info/tests/DT.php

"This is measure of the dark triad personality traits with a synthesis of relevant scales.

Introduction
The dark triad personality traits are three closely related yet independent personality traits that all have a somewhat malevolent connotation. The three traits are Machiavellianism - a manipulative attitude, sub-clinical Narcissism - excessive self-love, and sub-clinical Psychopathy - a lack of empathy.

This test is a combination of the MACH-IV test of Machiavellianism, the primary psychopathy scale of the Levenson Self-Report Psychopathy Scale, the Hypersensitive Narcissism Scale and the "Dirty Dozen" – a brief measures of all three traits.

Procedure
The inventory consists of fifty eight statements that must be rated on how much you agree with them. The test should not take most people more than five minutes."

I'm interested to find out what kind of scores people get

I'd never heard of this 'Dark Triad' before - I only discovered it when I was reading about Machiavellianism yesterday.

Narcissism - 0.9
Machiavellianism 0.8
Psychopathy 0.8

Not really sure what the scores mean though. O.o

Trait Score Percentile
Narcissism 2.5 55.8

Machiavellianism 1.7 22.8

Psychopathy 1.2 20.5

Scores are between 0 and 4, percentile is what percent of people you score higher than

So this shows I am just over half Narcissist with near quarter levels of Machiavellianism and Psychopathy

But that's only among people who took the test

The headings for my data won't align properly

Narcissism 2.7 64.6%
Machiavellianism 1.5 16.6%
Psychopathy 1.1 18.1%

This is a rather revealing test; I had never realized the extent to which my Narcissism extended.

Interesting that your results are very similar to mine in terms of the ratios

I knew I had some degree of these types of traits for the very fact I seem to form bonds with similar people
and that others often seem to see me as dysfunctional

I did the MACH-IV Test and was a 'High Mach' but I scored 64 - just under the average score (of people who took the test on the site) of 65 so many people must be high in Machiavellianism - being manipulative is a common trait in my opinion.

MACH-IV Test:-

Apparently, with a score of 53 out of 100, I am a "low Mach": "people who will hold out for the goodness of the world and avoid manipulation."

This test seems to have a very steep bell curve...

Image

I concur with the description; although I have not yet decided whether I find humanity to be "good" or "evil" on the whole, if such concepts can truly apply to humanity, and though I acknowledge that many persons place their own interests ahead of those of others, I try to be as honest and as helpful as I possible can be.

Manipulation is a common trait, if my current understanding of human psychology is correct-- manipulating one's environment and situation are often vital to survival.

Trait: Machiavellianism

Trait: Psychopathy

Can't say that I'm at all surprised by these results. I have been distinctively aware of a darkness within me ever since I was a teenager, and I know that I have the potential to commit terrible acts should I ever lose control over my emotions and moral compass.

Your score was 35 of 100.

This puts you in the category of the low Machs, people who will hold out for the goodness of the world and avoid manipulation. Not the people Machiavelli would approve of.

YES! I've done this test before, a few months ago! But redoing it for the sake of posting here :) I wonder if it really is a sliding scale, because I got much higher on machiavellianism this time. I have become more cynical though.

Narcissism 3.3 88.3%
Machiavellianism 2.1 37.9%
Psychopathy 2.1 51%

nessa, you didn't get very high scores at all. In psychopathy 79,5 % score higher than you. I googled my results back when I took it for the first time because I weren't sure how to read them, and most (what I presume to be) NTs get more than that.

But that test is a bit faulty, it asks questions that could as much have to do with social anxiety, or cynicism, or knowing how the world works and that doesn't = personality disorder. Like
"When I enter a room I often become self-conscious and feel that the eyes of others are upon me." <- straight up anxiety there
"I dislike being with a group unless I know that I am appreciated by at least one of those present." ...........
"I feel that I am temperamentally different from most people." <- *cough*ASD*cough*
"Most people who get ahead in the world lead clean, moral lives." <- WTF??? That sounds like some religious propaganda.
"It is wise to flatter important people." <- Recognizing it as "wise" doesn't mean you'd do it.

That's not what the Dark triad is about. Mostly means you'd be a good dresser? ;) http://www.scientificamerican.com/artic ... sonalities
