I've noticed lately that I seem to concentrate, imagine and be curious about my environment more when I'm in a state of daydreaming or a better description, mind exploring.
If I choose to think or force my mind to work or remember my mind doesn't respond as well, it is only when I'm unaware of my surroundings that I seem to achieve better results in thinking, imagining, or just working well. This could perhaps be the reason we work better in a quiet environment isolated from distractions.

I know where you are coming from I tend to be like that when I'm on my own.

I can definitely relate, although I've gotten a lot better at forcing myself to focus in the last few years.

i do this too.... it's like two modes of thinking.

i think it's one reason it's so hard to make eye contact.... cause i can't let my mind's eye wander off while i process things being said. looking at people, makes me think in that other way... and i can't comprehend as well cause i can't assimilate things visually and store them away. i can kinda skim the surface but things don't really get retained or committed. when i am interacting this way, i usually hope that the conversation doesnt last long and i can leave, go replay back the audio and then fix it in my eye before it's completely out of my head
