since off Adderall, I've actually been getting stuff done
I got sick and basically slept for an entire week. I stopped taking my Adderall because I didn't want to screw up my body's system of using fevers to kill off whatever virus was after me. But when I started feeling better I started feeling better than I did before I got sick and have been getting more work done than I have in a long time and have not been taking any Adderall.
I'm prescribed 10mg IR twice a day. Since I got better I've probably only taken four tablets over two weeks. And when I took them I felt distinctly more fatigued (after taking one). I think it might narrow my focus very slightly, but what is far more recognizeable is it raising my body temperature and sort of putting a damper on me. I feel a lot happier not on it, but I stutter more rather than stay quiet more, and am quicker to anger, and have a hard time working on homework that is not well-defined. I'm starting to feel like it has been sucking the juice out of me and not giving me anything back for it.
So I'm wondering if anyone has tried Adderall and gone off it because of feeling like it wears you down rather than stimulates you.
While I was on Adderall, thats 2 years ago, I felt more energy but it disturbed my sleep cycle. It made me focus if I was motivated enough but I couldn't sleep on it for weeks. I actually got used to sleeping less since I came off adderall and I don't think thats good because I only sleep 7 hours in two days now. If I use some kind of hypnosis or mediate I can sleep normally. I think I should get my sleep cycle back in order.
Anyway to answer your question no it didn't make me feel lethargic.
I've been curious about Adderall for a while now, but I've only been diagnosed with Aspergers not ADD or ADHD, so I don't think I'd be prescribed it. I'm just not sure how you differentiate between normal student procrastination (something most seem to 'suffer' from) and true attention deficits. Personally I have an extremely hard time focussing on tasks (unless I'm interested in it, then I've got laser focus and the hours drift by), struggle to start things (particularly 'poorly defined' tasks as mentioned above, like essays) and am easily distracted by 'outside stimuli'. It's incredibly frustrating as I'm currently on Easter break and I've yet to start any work, it doesn't feel like laziness but I just can't concentrate on what I need to do.
I'd love to hear some more experiences with medication like Adderall, mainly whether it actually helps you get on with work or not (although whether the sleep trade-off is worth it I'm not sure). I do wonder if I'm just trying to find an easy excuse for my own bad habits though, who knows.

Wow, I guess Adderall just doesn't work for you.
It depends very much on the person taking it. For me, stimulants are useful. For you, apparently not--at least Adderall.
Just goes to show: You can't just go popping pills randomly without thinking about the effects and whether or not they're beneficial. More pills does not equal better effects.
