Presidents day Monday

Library closed

Mondays I don't work

Bus on Sunday schedule

No rain forecasted where I live

Zero "friends" and "family"

Decomposing and rotting in my cage

Oh well, I don't go out much these days anyway except for my daily half mile exercise walk. I usually do that by going to Walmart for groceries, and the website says they'll be open for business as usual. They haven't managed to commercialise president's day yet AFAIK, so I doubt it'll get in the way of my shopping. I don't go to the library these days, as I got out of the habit when the Tories in the UK shut most of them down. I just find free reading material online instead. I'm not sending or expecting any mail for the time being. As for buses, they don't exist where I am. So I'll probably not notice it at all.

One of the grocery stores I sometimes go to is closed presidents day

No mail. That could be a good or bad thing

Mostly missing the library. Computer, printing, photocopy, check out books. But whatever. Can go to the library on Thursday

Mostly I hate being bored and nobody to be with and nothing to do but whatever. It's just one day.

I've just discovered that there's an official song for this glorious day - “Hail to the Chief.” Here's a very enthusiastic page about the whole thing:

https://www.primerrily.com/post/5-easy- ... idents-day

Reminds me of the Soviet Union's brainwashing antics. Patriotism in the US far exceeds anything I ever saw in the UK, where we usually either hate and lampoon our leaders or at least retain a modicum of dignity about our qualified approval of them. Don't get me wrong, I get that it's logical for a group to exhibit some kind of cohesion and solidarity in order to promote its survival, but when the thing is overblown to that degree, isn't it a tad counterproductive? Or is it actually working?

We generally don't see our PMs as a big screaming deal the way the US does with their presidents.

I would, but I'm afraid of getting beaten up by the cops or the National Guard. They would never do that to the Proud Boys or the Oath Keepers.

I can see why.

I'm quite certain most African Americans don't see George Washington as such a great guy the way white Americans generally do.

And then there's Mount Rushmore. Going against Native Americans' wishes and carving up a mountain by someone from the KKK. Such a great a great historical landmark. Also, I once heard a teacher on an American game show on TV say that her students had been asking her if the presidents were carved or somehow appeared naturally on the mountain. These were high school or middle school students at least.
