I don't know if that's a good thing, b/c it is cash, or if it is a bad thing b/c it is insulting.

He flashed me a stack of $100 bills. I tried not to look. I find it hard to imagine he earns or has a lot of $$$.

He offered me $20 and i shook my head, b/c i thought he would want something in return. Then he put $3 cash on the empty seat next to mine.

just b/c i haven't taken a shower for over two years, does not "prove" that i am homeless.

as of yesterday, i still have not gotten made redundant. last year, earned $25600 (after taxes and 401k and et cetera)

it reminded me of how, sometimes @ work, a customer offers me a tip and i correctly tell them "tips not allowed" and then they put it in my apron, in the shopping cart, or on the register. (i could just imagine my stupid lil boss telling me that she was making me redundant for accepting a tip, even though the customer left the tip in the shopping cart). and NO insisting "you are not going to get fired." unless you are precognitive, you do not know what is going to happen before it happens. and NO insisting that i take the tip. WHEN home depot has the nerve to make my worthelss corpse redundant, it might take four years or longer to get the next minimum wage gig.

I read a news story a couple a years ago about Bob Dylan deciding to visit a friend that worked as a music producer. He took a walk to his friends house in Beverly Hills. When Dylan found out that his friend wasn't there he sat down on his front porch waiting for him to come home. The neighbours thought Bob Dylan was homeless and called the cops. When Bob Dylan joined an arts class in the 1970's the teacher offered him to sleep in the studio if Dylan helped out with tidy up the place after the other students had left.

That’s a wild situation, honestly. It’s crazy how people can make assumptions based on looks or circumstances, like the idea that not showering for a while automatically means you're homeless. But hey, the fact that you declined the money shows you're not just accepting handouts from anyone, and that’s your choice. It reminds me of stories where famous people like Bob Dylan get mistaken for homeless folks. At the end of the day, no one should judge based on appearance alone.

Mrs peel

The most recent shower: February 27, 2023

Have not taken a shower for over two years

My personal record

Not objectively impressive, but amazing for me personally

Been working at home Depot for four and a half years

Still not made redundant

Live alone

Haven't gotten sick since April last year

Rarely been getting sick lately. Since coronavirus. It is not frequency intensity duration. Not that bad

On the other hand, exhausted all the time.

Struggling to stay awake on the way to work and before work in the locker room

So many idiots make me scared and exhausted

Overpowered outnumbered outsmarted

Haven't washed hair either

Two to four loads of laundry per week

Wash clothes after wearing them one day. Exception, shoes, jackets, hat, belt, pajamas

The whole home Depot is so filthy that it doesn't matter if I failed to take a shower

A lil proud of it. Not an STEM degree or even LinkedIn accomplishments. But I don't have that many accomplishments, so this is one of them

Saturday my boss had the nerve to tell me that I could not wear sweatpants anymore..

(Rolls eyes)

Today and yesterday, machine washed almost every work appropriate long pants and shorts. It took a lot of time money and energy

Only got about two more loads left

Yeah, I am wondering too.
Could be a sensory issue or executive dysfunction or depression / mental health issue, I guess? Or a housing issue, like shared or dirty showers or lack of hot water?

I feel like whatever it is, you should be getting some support, SFBUMan. Daily living assistance or something like that.

texas and mrs peel

in 2021, the bar that the shower curtain hangs from, fell off. every time i try to take a shower, water splashes all onto the floor.

a couple years ago, after taking a shower, used to get itchy.

too lazy to take a shower.

i enjoy thinking about how my pathetic, loser coworkers, such as tattletale tom, Plumbing Associate RM, angela w, angela d, have to be in the same lockerroom as me.

been working @ home depot four and a half years and counting and still not made redundant. the whole building is so filthy that nobody notices or nobody cares.

that four and an half years of service is a personal record.

that two year and one month no shower record.

A customer at work had the nerve to tell me "you work at home Depot? You look like a hobo"

When I was 41, someone said that I had to get parents consent for an injection (because I looked under 18)

A coworker asked if I was Vietnamese (I'm Chinese)

Some dude at the bus stop said I was "homeless"

Things are not always the way they appear

Sometimes it is necessary, natural, subconscious, or normal to make assumptions, but not in those situations

Isn't neat to not shower‽ I went a few months without showering several times. I remember my skin feeling stronger. I think regular showering causes protective oils and dry skin to get washed away, so our skin isn't as resilient as it was designed to be.

Btw, I have gotten itchy after showering. I found out that it's because my skin was dry. Using lotion after showering remedied the itching. Dryness might be a reason your itchy because your skin got used to your natural oils, so showering washes them off and you get itchy.

I don't know
Kind of understand your stubborn streak, SFBUMan, and your objection to people makimg assumptions, but if you value your job it would be in your interest not to stink out your colleagues or look like a hobo, honestly.

It's difficult for homeless people to wash their clothes or taking showers. That's the reason people mistake you for a homeless if you don't shower.

Why haven't you taken a shower in 2 years?

A lot of workplaces demand a certain level of hygiene, especially in customer service roles.

Edit: I just realized this question has already been asked and answered.

Mrs peel

Plenty of coworkers look like hobos, not just me. The ones that don't look like hobos are living way past their means

Which coworkers should I take a shower for?

Tattle tale tom
Annoying Alberto
Angela w and Angela d
Plumbing associate RM
(Rolls eyes)

They have to sit in the same locker room as me

Sometimes tattle tale tom sits on the same chair as me

They make me wanna puke

They are so annoying

Micromanaging me
Saying "huh" and "what" instead of "excuse me "

They have no qualms with cross examining me about what I did that they don't like, but I don't feel comfortable doing vice versa

Fair enough.
Just concerned that it might be giving them ammunition to use against you.
