Every soul has a unique stance on reality. AS people might have the most unique paradigms of all. Describe your beliefs about the world around you, and ways that you impose your reality upon other individauls. And when I say that, I'm not implying rude behavior or anything. How do you bring other humans into your reality? Or is your paradigm for you only?

My view is actually a very simple one. The entire concept of belief is a Bad Thing, in and of itself. It is better to attempt to find the truth or falsehood of a thing by following the evidence, and to be willing to change your mind when better evidence comes in. Watch for logical fallacies in your thinking, and in those of others. Be critical. Do not accept something simply because the person advocating it is generally reliable. Be particularly careful of propositions that appeal to emotion.

That's a brief and not particularly well written summary of my paradigm. The scientific method. The greatest discovery the human mind has yet achieved.

How do I impose my view on others? That's a simple matter. I think that everyone should be free to believe whatever they choose to. However, when someone makes what I consider to be a truly bizarre claim (ie, homeopathy or astrology) I will not let it pass without explaining why this claim is probably bunk. Does this piss people off? Sometimes. I really don't care. If I were to say something that is that bizarre, I'd expect other people to point it out to me.

How do I bring others into my reality? Well, it's not my reality. It's just reality.

My paradigm is for me only. My thought process relies heavily on impressions that can't be described using language or any other symbolic system that I've encountered. In fact, I think I can understand why non-verbal autistics make strange noises to try to communicate; I often mentally refer to these impressions of mine (can't think of a better word than impressions) by imagining sort of grunting or sighing noises. Although I have above-average verbal skills as measured by writing assessments and the SAT verbal section, I'm not able to use them to communicate my paradigm. However, I often take great enjoyment in having highly intellectualized debates about abstract topics and in reciting un-analytical accounts of things I witnessed that were interesting to me, so I don't feel like my verbal communication with the people I'm close to is unsatisfying or lacking.

My reality is mine alone. I think I recognized this a very long time ago and just accepted it.

As frustrated as I feel at times, I cannot buy into the prevailing negative worldview that seems to be part and parcel of AS. If I didn't believe in something bigger than myself, I'd go crazy. I also believe in commitment to self-improvement. My goals seem pretty simple: to get a driver's license, obtain a full-time job and, if I find a compatible person, to get married. If not, my cats are a source of comfort. I have already accomplished some pretty difficult things, such as getting a Master's in English and overcoming the worst of my AS traits from childhood. I have a way to go, but with work, I'll get there.

My goals for the next five years are:

Get a driver's license
Get a full-time job at the library (I love working there)
Publish a book (I sent a manuscript of my book, For the Love of Samantha, about my cat, and am still awaiting word.)
Go to London in 2012 and meet Roger Bannister

I live in my own little word, and my paradigm shifts at will for whatever purpose needed, quite useful when dealing with people with strong religious convictions, and all i had to do to get that way was have about a dozen seizures. Essentially I can completely shift my view of the world into someone else's view, disregarding my own ideas letting me see life through another persons eyes.

But in general i have a less then optimistic view of the world, we live our life then we die, and if you think about it we're less then a flea's droppings in the cosmic scale of the universe. I find graveyards espessaly ironically funny because it doesn't matter how you lived or what you accomplished your going to die and be stuck in the ground, a view i find comforting honestly .In general I'm fascinated by most things people are afraid of or disgusted by, and I have a morbid sense of humor, and strangely enough I've always been that way.

I guess my belief is a mix of religions... For me the most important thing is to be good to animals and nature. I also believe that each person has their own guide through their lives and that you can find it through meditation or by seeing a Shaman. What goes around comes around (Karma). I also believe in destiny, not that everything is set from the beginning, but that some things are. My belief is really a bit hard to explain, I think it's easier if I write it down as a list instead..

*Karma
*Several lifes
*Destiny
*Nature
*Guides
*Many dimensions..For me ghosts are people or animals that for some reason didn't start a new life since they got stuck in between.
*Healing
*Learning
*Everything is connected-people aren't more valuable than animals. I do eat meat, but I find it important to thank the animal who gave it's life to feed me.

If you have any questions, just ask :D

That was a sig I had a while ago.

I believe patterns really are everywhere, in everything. We just have to be careful on how we look. I see them all the time actually, but the same moment they are there the pattern diverges.

I love my kitties! I love all animals, but cats have a special place in my heart. I am partial to tabbies, Lynx points and all striped kitties.
