I don't know if it is just me, but do any other aspies have trouble making their sentences make sense?

Being a regular forumer on many forums it gets quite fustrating over time... I'm writing a reply/thread and i get to a point where i think what i've written doesn't make sense and i can't think of a good way to make it.

Happens to me all the time, often I have to abandon the idea of replying at all or make severe changes to my post. I mess up a lot this way in real life too.

Sometimes, it's much worse when I have to do it on the fly in a conversation.

Yes I wish I was better at expressing my ideas in English my mother tongue. My sentence construction is pretty weak.

Yes, yes I do.

It also sucks because I always have a good topic in mind, but it always comes out a mess.

Its good to know that there are other people on the same boat.

I have trouble with anything that relates/pertains to language; people say I get along well enough; it's taken me a lot of work over the years to overcome my difficulties in reading, writing and speaking. I put work into it and I seem to have gotten something out of it, i.e., the ability to communicate my point "adequately".

I stop...then start again, I don't bother with backspace; I try and make it as "real" as possible when I type, it's all practice to me for "out there" in person where I'm...pretty damn bad at communicating to nearly everyone.

I'm an "autie" with the whole verbal impairment thing (my verbal IQ is below average).

Sounds like a working memory problem. Working memory is short term memory you preform some secondary operation on. It would be like level 1 cache on a CPU. Which is relatively expensive and small on most CPUs.

Its possible standard ADD/ADHD medication could help and/or off label use of some Alzheimer's drugs.

I want to make an online working memory test but I have been
too lazy to do it. It could provide a real number for people to compare each others cognitive problems with. I would make a
math ,English and spatial one.

Women should make sure they get enough iron.

Iron treatment normalizes cognitive functioning in young women.
Murray-Kolb LE, Beard JL.

Department of Nutritional Sciences, The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, USA. [email protected]

BACKGROUND: Evidence suggests that brain iron deficiency at any time in life may disrupt metabolic processes and subsequently change cognitive and behavioral functioning. Women of reproductive age are among those most vulnerable to iron deficiency and may be at high risk for cognitive alterations due to iron deficiency. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to examine the relation between iron status and cognitive abilities in young women. DESIGN: A blinded, placebo-controlled, stratified intervention study was conducted in women aged 18-35 y of varied iron status who were randomly assigned to receive iron supplements or a placebo. Cognition was assessed by using 8 cognitive performance tasks (from Detterman's Cognitive Abilities Test) at baseline (n = 149) and after 16 wk of treatment (n = 113). RESULTS: At baseline, the iron-sufficient women (n = 42) performed better on cognitive tasks (P = 0.011) and completed them faster (P = 0.038) than did the women with iron deficiency anemia (n = 34). Factors representing performance accuracy and the time needed to complete the tasks by the iron-deficient but nonanemic women (n = 73) were intermediate between the 2 extremes of iron status. After treatment, a significant improvement in serum ferritin was associated with a 5-7-fold improvement in cognitive performance, whereas a significant improvement in hemoglobin was related to improved speed in completing the cognitive tasks. CONCLUSIONS: Iron status is a significant factor in cognitive performance in women of reproductive age. Severity of anemia primarily affects processing speed, and severity of iron deficiency affects accuracy of cognitive function over a broad range of tasks. Thus, the effects of iron deficiency on cognition are not limited to the developing brain.

A common experience for me, confusion due to a misunderstanding or interpretation of the request. I lost my last job due to an ingoramus that could not understand what I and my three previous managers told him about the task that was assigned to me.

The mutton head refused to even attempt to understand my differences in the interpretation of his request. I need specific goals, not arbitrary, unsupportable ignorant instructions that conflict with reasonable and ethical considerations.

I do just fine while typing or writing, its the verbal communication that I had more difficulty with forming sentances, i screw up almost as much as I do it correctly.
