Have any of you ever wondered what it would be like if you where NT. I have often thought about this since my diagnosis.
Just imaging no more meltdowns, no more confusion problems ect. But at on the other hand would I still have my obsessions and excellent logical thinking that comes with AS.

I would give every dime I had and shorten my life by 20 years if I could be NT. No question.

If the outcome could be like in the book, "The Speed of Dark." Although he was changed into an NT, he still retained his intelligence and introverted personality.

For the first time since I left school I have just found myself wanting to draw a Venn diagram.

If I drew one for any physical disease, and even for some mental disorders, (ie. depression), there would be two separate circles. You and this alien presence in your body are two different entities. You can easily imagine yourself without the affliction.

If I drew one for Aspergers, (or anything on the spectrum I think), the circles would crossover. Cutting out the Aspergers would be akin to lopping off one of your arms. There'd be a great big chunk missing!

To answer that question, I'd have to see this new prosthetic limb you were adding to me and decide if I liked the look of it.

Did I take this all faaaaaaaaar to seriously? Yes I did.

Eh. In my younger years I didn't know what was wrong with me, so I desperately longed for answers. Learning why was a HUGE relief. But would I want to be an NT? I don't know, I've never been one. There are some AS traits I rather enjoy. And I like who I am (though I could do without the sensory problems). Mostly I think about how to best work with what I've got, since choosing to be an NT isn't an option.

There are only 3 real benefits I would see. One doesn't seem to be that great, given the garbage that usually goes along with it. The other doesn't seem so great given the above, and a 20 year shorter lifespan would make it pretty much WORTHLESS! The other is something I could probably get out of my life, and frankly nobody should be exposed to.

I was being sarcastic. That was intended to be difficult to pick up though.

Yes I'd definitely rather be NT. I miss too much of what I should be enjoying by being AS.
I think it sucks.

Yes I have wondered it too. I'd love to be an NT for a few days and see what's it like. Would I be doing more small talk? Would I like being in social situations? Would I see more body language and would I see non verbal cues too? Would I sense people's feelings all the time instead of sometimes? Would I not being doing the same thingds everyday? Would I be doing my job any different? Would I not being thinking about the same stuff over and over? Would I like lot of effection? Would I not be good with numbers and dates? Would I not have any movie knowledge? Would I not be movie eccentric? etc etc etc

I have all these questions in me about what if I was really an NT.

NO! I like the way I am for the most part. The only reason why I would want to be NT is to be able to get a girlfriend easier, or in my case, just to get one. Other then that I enjoy living in my own world, playing by my own rules, and being the wolf who wears sheep's clothing (you know you have too if you want to survive in society).

I have become much more NT recently, or so it seems. My anxiety is nowhere near as bad as it used to be. However I've lots alot of my mathematical ability and I hate it. If I could go back to being as Aspie as I was, or even more, I'd take it in a second.
