Because the summer isn't finished here yet I am still having allergy problems. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has this problem.

I was in class today and my nose started running uncontrollably, I tried readjusting my sitting position, controlling my breathing and anything I could but it just wouldn't stop. The kleenexes I had became so wet they didn't work anymore, and I had several. I've had this problem before, and I hate it. It's always worse when I'm out in public which is when the need to handle it gracefully is most important. Is there a graceful way to handle this? Does anyone else have this problem?

That happens to me in my classes as well. I never remember Kleenex though :( It's worse in my therapy sessions, though-for me at least. I get so focused on my nose running that I don't hear anything he says sometimes...

As far as handling it gracefully, I am at a loss. I hit a point sometimes when I just put the Kleenex up to my nose on whatever side is running, and attempt to make it look as if I am just leaning my head on my hand, lol. I'm not sure how natural it looks, but I guess it's better to just let it sit there than to have to keep wiping my nose in front of everyone.

I have the worst allergies of anyone I know.

It used to be just congestion and tons of sneezes. Over the last month, my nose now runs whenever it feels like it, with no warning whatsoever.

In public, I find a distraction and get lost in it. The allergy seems to disappear. A few good blows into a tissue seem to help for a longer time than just incessantly swabbing at my nose.

At home, I am affectionately known as "The Snot Monster" because basically I shove a Kleenex artfully up each nostril and leave it lodged there. After an unknown period of time, the runny stuff quits.

I've been hoping someone would mention allergies on the boards since Asperger's seems to affect just about every other aspect of my life, why not my annoying eternal sinus issues as well?

Also, back when I could afford it, allergy shots worked wonders. You may look into that, if you haven't already.

I avoid Benedryl these days. I apparently developed a resistance to it, since I was taking up to six capsules every morning before class and still sneezing my head off by the time class started. I could barely keep my eyes open, but I was still sneezing away.

Good luck. I feel your misery...

If you find a fix, let me know.
