McCarthy calls Carrey 'autism whisperer'

NEW YORK - Jenny McCarthy worried about finding a good man after her son, Evan, was diagnosed with autism two years ago. Then Jim Carrey came along. "Beyond doubt it was written in the stars that Jim and Evan were a pair," the 34-year-old actress tells People magazine in its Oct. 1 issue.

That is quite sweet. I don't normally care about celebrities but I wish them well. Funny, my housemate's father had tourettes when he was younger (but seems not to display charecteristics anymore). She always said that Carrey's humour was very much like a mild tourettes. Since autism and tourettes have some overlap, I wonder if Carrey might be mildly affected and that is why the 2 understand each other?

Still, it is always good to read something positive about autism in the press.

Jenny McCarthy and her son were featured on 20/20 this evening. I glanced at the posted earlier, and then when something on the show was mentioned about something mentioned here, I remember reading this.

I saw the show last night. It was really interesting. I have heard of the benefits of the GFCF diet not only for autism, but also for celiac disease. On the Discovery Health Channel, there was a story about a boy who had an atypical presentation of celiac that resembled an ASD. I wonder if Jenny McCarthy's son also had celiac disease.

I am not really a fan of Jenny McCarthy, but her interview was fascinating. I thought she answered those critics who said that people who were helped by certain therapies weren't autistic in the first place.

I always thought Carey was a an aspie himself. Or just a bit on the spectrum.
It's funny, because I was a big fan of him as a little kid :)
