Can anyone recommend someone in London who is experienced in diagnosing AS (and is also a decent human being!). Thanks in advance for your help.

Well I don't know how you could get in contact, but I was diagnosed by a professor Taylor at the Michael Rutter centre (Maudsley hospital). It depends how old you are because If you are over 18 then you can't really go there.

the maudsley assesses adults to.

dosh,
the maudlsey hospital is quite a common choice, but email or phone the national autistic society and they will be able to give information on others to go to.

Oh, didn't know that. I am still on there despite being 19 because I was messed about for 6 years by psychiatrists.

CLASS clinic in Cambridge headed by Simon Baron Cohen is a diagnostic centre for adults with AS.

They won't take in anyone outside cambridge now. Their list is too long.

Maudsley does it but unless you have specific issues that are more complex than simply getting a diagnosis I wouldn't go there. You will have to apply for funding from you local health trust, and be seen by a psychiatrist who may or may not know about AS (mine didn't), it will probably take longer. Unfortunately any way you have to go through your GP on the NHS. But there are a number of clinical psychologist and psychiatrist that are able to give diagnosis I believe.

Yeh I know :(

Good idea with the neuropsychologist. One diagnosed my executive dysfunction.

Don't recommend neuropsychiatrist on the other, thought that might be bias as I saw a really terrible one.

Dosh. I have done a search on the website for the directory of chartered psychologists. I searched under neuro psychologists as they often specialise in autism spectrum disorders, I searched for professionals who are located in London. Please follow the link:

Bit long sorry! The first name on the list Miss Nadja Alim looks to works with ASD's etc as does Dr Catherine Giannoulis, AFBPsS who is based at the Maudsley. Dr Imogen Hibbs looks to have a private practice and specialises with AS cases based in north london. best of luck.
