At my school, my support group is planning an autism-related event for October 16th.
Your group is welcome to do this.
First of all, it will be a bit redundant after you read this, so I risk 10 pieces of PM hate mail.

My group is planning the 1st Annual Autism Silence Day set for October 16th.
This will honor all on the Autism Spectrum & families and to memorialize those who have been persecuted in the past.
Here are the rules.
1.} Take a 24-hour vow of silence.
2.} It would help, but it is not encouraged, to tape your mouth shut for most of the time.
3.} If you use tape, it has to be red or blue duct tape with your words written on the tape.
ex.} "End the silence now!"
4.} Please use cue cards that explains what you are doing.
5.} Cue cards must be written in your own words.

Again, if you go to a support group, your group is more than welcome to do this.

Thank You,
AnonymousAnonymous

No, I started this after getting the idea from a different group whose meetings I go to as well.
Any group can pick any time that they want, I really don't give a rat's ass about the day this should happen.

if that is to am.... [as often get asked that, sorry if not] ,it is because am can not comprehend the words it replaces, the word makes more sense to am,as am means self, and can read or hear a sentance with it and not obsess over wondering what they mean rather than seeing the whole sentance...if that makes any sense....?

AnonymousAnonymous,it is a very good idea...is it only groups that can be involved? would photos or any other stuff which shows it happened be required?
will there be a website?

also, would taping of other peoples mouths be allowed rather than own?

Individuals can participate as well.
Photos or YouTube videos are optional.
If other people are up to the challenge, Aspie or NT, let them be allowed.

US & Canada-October 16th
UK-October 18th
Australia-October 24th

If you do not reside in one of those countries, your Autism Silence Day will be announced at a later date. I will try to get a blog up by Friday.

This gives an unfair advantage for auties/aspies to do it...most of us prefer silence anyways. Hey, can we make everyone ELSE do it in respect to our sensory issues? That would be AWESOME!
I would do it but I would not be allowed out of school participation.
