Is it me or does anyone else feel the same way?

Whenever my boyfriend rubs my upper arm, I feel some pain because it feels I am being poked with a finger real hard. Even when he does it softly, it still hurts.

My husband and I both experience that. He has more trouble with it than I do.

Yes, absolutely. I once went for a touch therapy session and it was total agony, although she said she was hardly touching me at all. I think that if somebody presses on my muscle, it hurts. But if they move their hand to a place where they can move between the muscles and do a sort of deep massage movement, that feels good.

I wonder if these are sensory issues?

no, they are not sensory issues. touch is obviously not a sense.

So what are they? I read disliked being touched was a sensory issue because the person feels pain or they feel they want to get away, they feel they are being smothered, etc.
My mother took me to occupational therapy to help me with this because I hated being touched and I hated being hugged.

I thought touch was a sense, as in touch, taste, hearing, seeing, believing, ESP ... I'm sure of the first few anyway. :)

It hurts if I don't know you (which is pretty much everyone); so I bounce out of the way when people attempt to touch me.

it's tactile defensiveness,and is a sensory issue.

Are you joking? I can't tell. Anyway, the five senses are:

sight
hearing
smell
taste
TOUCH

I hate being rubbed lightly, like when someone uses their fingertips. It makes me feel really uneasy and my instant reaction is to pull away. I don't mind if the person uses the palm of their hand or their whole hand. It doesn't feel like pain it just feels really uncomfortable.
