I was really incredibly stressed out for no apparent reason and then I picked up a really soft white fluffy stuffed polar bear that I bought recently. The combined color of white and the sheer softness of the polar bear made me feel much better. Very tiny stuffed animals don't do it; they need to have some plumpness to them in order for me to be soothed by them. I am having a fun journey rediscovering myself as I tried for years to pretend to be an NT. Does anyone else find certain colors or fabrics to be soothing?

I don't know about colors or fabrics, but when I'm really freaked out I love happy things like stuffed animals. I'm supposed to be way too old for them, but oh well, I still have all of mine :)

yes,
room is full of tactile stimulation stuff, touch is the least messed up sense am have, and walls are in a pale blue colour as people said it has a calming affect [and its favourite colour],floor is a nice light pine? type sort.
have a lot of toy stuffed things, some of them are steiffs which have the best feel, could sit rubbing them from light to dark, they are usually filled with wood chippings though so aren't squeezable like other things.

wolfpup, why is there an age limit on things?

My life practicly revolves around stuffed animals....I end up feeling sorr for them and bringing them home....

I also make them...and fill them with natural/recycled fibers so there is more depth to the feeling of hugging them

I love the feeling of burying my face into a warm, furry animal. Dogs especially.

I get a little of that out of the right stuffie... but it's just not quite the same.

I love stuffed toys, I have about 40 or so, not including all my kids' ones. :)

I still have all the stuffed animals, mostly given to me by boyfriends. They're lined up on the shelf above the computer, so constantly in my field of vision.

Wow! This makes me feel better :D

Since I moved out on my own(but with daughter half time) about 19 months ago(divorce), I have one of those body-length pillows that I cuddle up with... naptime, bedtime, or just 'want to lie down and shut out the world' time

And, when several people at work started telling me I needed a pet at home so I would go home after clocking out (after 1130pm, but usually staying til 3 or 4 in the morning when I don't have my daughter at home), I seriously thought about getting myself a stuffed animal.

I was hoping I could adopt some kittens that were born in my backyard, but for various reasons it won't work out.

So, a stuffed animal may very well be in my future! :D

I collect cat-related items of all kinds, including stuffed animals. Siamese make up the bulk of my collection.

for me it helps having a pillow or stuffed animal that i can pretty much hug to relieve the stress and anxiety and go to sleep. i usually always have to have a special chest pillow and 2 pillows under my head to relax and go to sleep. otherwise i would be awake all night fearful.

I've been hugging an overstuffed pillow at night trying to make up for the fact my wife is no longer there beside me.

How depressing.

Yeah, I agree, but I need something to wrap my arms around and there doesn't seem to be anyone in my future so the pillow is doing the job for now.

I wish I could have a friend who would just curl up with me some nights.
I don't think anyone would believe me if I said it could be non-sexual though. Tried suggesting it to someone I know and like a lot and she didn't believe me :( . Seems as though most people just don't understand the power of an embrace... without all the heavy breathing

don't really like stuffed animals, because of seams and plastic eyes... but soft pillows are nice. the best ones i find get named Mooshy.

bring me my Mooshy!

i also have a hairless cat, a real live one, and she is delightful.

I loved stuffed animals as a kid. I still like them. My 9 y/o AS daughter collects stuffed cats and has a billion of them. She's VERY attacehd to a few of them and will have a melt-down if she can't find them.
