My brain works best at the most inconvenient time... the late late night to rearly early morning (about 11:30 to 4:00.) I have writer's block at all times but that time, when I could write and write and write and i would be ingenious, fascinating writing. My plans-- same thing-- I only make ingenious, fascinating plans at that time of the day/niht! Talk about inconvenient!

sometimes things come to me out of nowhere if I didn't quite get it before but mostly I feel more energetic and creative at night. My brain does not work however with abrupt noises and disruptances that I didn't see coming.

I can concentrate a lot better at night because I am by myself and there for I can write more.

My brain is at its peak from 10:00 PM-2:00 AM, and for that period I can't fall asleep... all the more annoying when I have to watch the Daily Show at 11:00 PM and I have a 6:00 AM wake up call...

Fighting it is futile.

Same for me! 11pm to 4am is when my brain is at its creative peak. Being of logical and rationnal nature and trying to explain this fact, I first though I just might be less self-criticizing due to a certain mental fatigue (even thought I hardly feel fatigue, I mostly "know" it). But rechecking whatever Ive done/written/composed/thought during daytime, it seemed it really was highly creative.

The fitest explanation I can give is twofold :

1) Actual fatigue may raise my spontaneity, something I usually lack
2) Being awake during the night when mostly everybody else is asleep seems to let me fully explore my mental horizons, because I dont feel commited to anything I should be doing, as opposed to daytime when I get distracted by what a normal/average person is expected to do.

10 pm - 2 am. Somehow it's more peaceful at that time. I wonder what we're picking up from around us before then?

Yea. I tend to get on a roll with whatever I'm doing after 11:00 PM and then I stay up till like 2:00 AM. Sometimes I'll feel tired around 8:00 or 9:00 PM and will have trouble working then I'll actually get less tired later on.

My mental peak used to be at night, which worked out quite nicely. I kept a very interesting journal during those years. Now that my workdays are more difficult, I hit my thinking/creativity peak at an inconvenient 10 a.m. (roughly), when I am too busy to write anything down!

I thought I was the only one like this. I'm worthless until about midnight and after, maybe why so many of my posts here are crap. That's when I always do my best work, so that's when I do my homework. I have to intentionally set up my classes to start late because of this, which isn't always easy.

I have a paper due tomorrow and I'm going to do it later tonight once the football game is over, although the game is going badly. If it's a big assignment I drink something with a lot of sugar and caffeine because my eyes get tired when my brain is going.

Yep, that's about the same window I have. My writing during those hours is freaking phenomenal. If I force myself into a different time window, my brain just won't have it. As for studying or assignments, I won't even attempt it earlier than 5PM, because it's a complete waste of time.

yes, it's the most annoying thing ever too. I lay down, think of something I should write down, get up, write it down, lay back down, think of something else, get back up, etc. I finally pass out around 4:00 or so due to it, lol, and am VERY exhausted by then.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think that when I need to use my brain in certain situations I become afraid and I just sort of shut down, but when Im by myself and it doesnt matter I can think much more clearly.
