Does anybody who has Aspergers have difficulties sorting out money/budgeting about what can be spent and what cannot??
And also spending money that should not really be spent in all seriousness??

I arrange everything through online banking so the money goes in and the bills go out and I don't have to remember what is to pay or have the money in my hands to waste. I have two bank accounts one for bills and one for me, I set up standing order from the main bank out for how much I am allowed to spend and have a bank card only for that account to take the money out but most everything is bought online anyway including groceries and pizza.

I've never had any problem keeping money under control, in fact I'm sometimes the opposite. Sometimes I find myself making lists of what I spent my money on then getting upset when I can't account for missing funds.

Spreadsheets, if you can find the time to fill them out. My finances have been going a little bit to hell recently because of a dog that is many times more expensive than we'd anticipated, and lack of time to actually keep up, but generally if we have a way to note down precisely how much money we have and how much we've spent, we do OK. Try to create a system and work out how much you have to spend each month, then stick to it, and keep updating things day by day.

I usually go a good job of keeping track of my money by memory.

I have issues with it if my bills are very numerous. I managed to eliminate many of them, color coordinate them by date due, and pay many through online bill pay.

No, I'm fine with budgeting. I know what I can spend and I don't go over that limit. If I need to cut down on my recreational expenses I do. :)

I have a really messed up relationship with money...it is hard to explain....i make things that I sell...but Flakey has to set my prices because I will always undersell..
um...I tend to be too generous with other people when I have money to spend and then regret it later.

Pink Floyd rocks!!

Nah, I'll be serious about this. Money is a serious business.

I used to be great at saving my money, now I blow it (money, I mean)

Well I have trouble with keeping track of things in general. On the other hand I'm not a big spender and actually know how to fill in a tax form and do a balance sheet unlike most people my age.

I do have two collections going, and I put some fair cash into my entertainment (DVDs, books and art supplies), but for the most part I'm good with money. I have no qualms spending it on things I really want, but I do know how to save and keep a budget. I too also make things to sell, so I learned quickly how important it is to do your finances right. My father has problems with money, so I handle all the bills for the household now and the grocery money. I think that has made me concentrate hard on being finanically responsible, even when at times it's been a little bit hard.

The Managing money issue for me still brings up alot of shame. Have done a Chapter 13 and a Chapter 7 bancrupcy because of mismanaged money in the past. It's taken six years to somewhat get my credit back and due to a recent relationship with a woman who is expert at managing money, I'm doing a lot better.
I think it's a skill that needs to be learned. Even though I'm making much better money at what I do, it's still a challenge to set money aside for things like retirement, daughters college, and the predictable unforseens down the road.
Good luck where ever you are on the learning curve. :)

I like this idea... maybe someday I'll even try it!

I shouldn't have a bank card though. I balance my checkbook about once every 4-6 months.
I can keep a rough idea of what I have in the bank and what I'm spending, but I get 'danger close' sometimes! 8O

My biggest problem... well one of my biggest problems with money is that I tend to lose my bills in the piles at my house.
I have a special plastic tray to hold my bills, but somehow they don't all wind up there :?

After the second or third overdue notice, I finally get my act together and pay them... or else I have to reinstate things and pay a fee to do so (I've done this with my insurance policies... cancelled, pay $50 to be reinstated, over & over again).

I do tend to buy things without thinking about if I really need it or not.
I'm getting better at this though... not doing it, that is. :D

I have never had the 'feelings' about money that other people around me seem to have.
I don't panic when money gets tight, I think nothing of giving money away or buying things for other people when I think they need it, and I don't worry so much about my financial future even though I'm told I should.

I am horrendous with money.
I overspend. Currently, clothing is my main issue. I seem to want a different outfit for every day of the year :P Used to be DVDs and CDs I spent on, or books, but God, how sad to be spending it on clothing.
