I have a Learning Disability called Asperger Syndrome. It's a high functioning form of Autism. this is what it causes: a slow hand eye coordination, difficulty in math, and a speech impediment. This is what I can do: Public Speaking, and being a Peer to Peer trainer. I am also the Secretary of the Self Advocates of Gregg County and am involved with the various community services done by the Ambucs 2.

My Childhood was like this: the adults corrected my speech even when it was unnecessary. I tried hard to keep up with the other kids, but I was always "it" when tag was played. The Parents didn't make sure that their kids played fair with me. I didn't learn to ride a bike, I could only roller skate. Other kids accepted me somwhate, but their parents considered me weird.

In my teens, the school psychologist spoke to me. He said I had been acting out, and turned in a library book late. He asked me questions not related to my perfomance in school, like what church I attended. I heard catcalls from other people. I was once asked if I could bring a snack, so I could play with some kids. I learned creative writing. People were entertained, but not interesred enough to be published.

In adulthood, I wasn't diagnosed until age twenty-two. The Texas Rehabilitation Center (TRC) sent me to be tested after I said I wanted to go to a junior college (which I qualified for). The diagnosis was Organic Brain Disorder. I found out why I couldn't do fast food or cashiering. At the age of twenty-eight I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. I found out why I couldn't follow directions at work. I was sent to an Autism group tha theld conferences.

My Future was: I learned Public Speaking from Partner in Policymaking. I also ofund a Self Advocate Group and became it's secretary. then I joined the Ambucs 2 and have done community service projects with them. Hopefully I will become a pUblic Speaker and writer.

I disagree about difficulty with math is part of Aspergers. Anybody has troubles with it.
