I walked over to Wendys today. Its about 5 or so blocks from here. As I was walking back I was crossing the street. Not a busy street but a side street on the corner of a busy street. I live on one so I usually have no problem crossing them. There were 2 cars waiting to turn so I just crossed. I usually always do. Apparently the guy driving the first car wasn't paying much attention because he started driving right as I was walking. I was inches away from getting hit but I managed to move out of the way just as he stopped. He said "Sorry" and I said sorry and he drove off. The lady in the car behind him had a shocked look on her face. I had my radio with me and Howie Day - "Collide" was playing on the radio at that time which makes it even wierder. It didn't really sink in until I got home. Now I have all kinds of worry like something really bad is going to happen. The day before this incident my sister got into a car accident (not serious, just some door damage) as she was pulling out of a parking lot. Anybody know what I should do about this worry? Its like a feeling of impending doom. I also bought something today that I always wanted but never was able to afford. I had a terrible time buying it and I still have to get something else to make it work. Whenever I buy something like this I always have a feeling of impending doom before I get to use it or soom after I get it.

I really thought I was the only person in the world that had these same feelings. If it is any help my sense of impending doom is almost always wrong and nothing really bad happens.

Nah, it's not that uncommon; I've been living with it since I was about 13. Apparently, it's just a manifestation of anxiety disorder, or so a plethora of shrinks has told me...

free floating anxiety - been there, done that. well, DO rather than done.

bach flower remedies are useful, i've found. mustard is for deep gloom which descends from nowhere, and without warning or apparent reason. white chestnut is good for unwanted worrying thoughts.

can go and look up others, if it'd be helpful to anyone...?

I would find it very interesting. I use a flower based spray on dogs with anxiety but I never thought about it transferring over to humans.

I heard that Wendy's is a restaurant in America and many other countries. Over here it's just an ice cream store.

That is good to know. I have never been down the "shrink" road because compared to my dad I seemed normal and everyone just thought my dad wanted to be difficult.

Here in America it is a fast food restaurant that sells hamburgers and other food.

Another interesting difference is that Burger King is called Hungry Jack's here in Australia.

The only exception is at the airports, who still call it Burger King- I assume so it doesn't make the foreigners feel homesick. Although when I went to one they still packed it in a Hungry Jack's bag.

Here's the Hungry Jack's logo for anyone outside of Australia:

Who knows? Maybe things will get better for you in the near future.
