I have always had the ability to focus and unfocus my vision completely at will. It's uncanny. I was wondering as to whether anyone else had this capability. Is it common in autism?

I have that same issue, but I'm not sure how common it is with people on the spectrum.

Yes, I thought everyone could do this?

Do you guys ever have that problem where if you stare at something too long your eyes sort of 'flick'. It happens when I'm working on blown up images in photoshop the most. But also times where I'm not overly straining my eyes.

So did I until people started mentioning to me that it's weird. I doubt it's an Aspie trait, though, on reflection.

I dont know who told you they cant do that, but I think they are the freaks here.
Ive had comments about my eyes before, about the way I look at things or just how pretty they are. Somebody once told me that they think I just sit in my room all day practicing shifting my eyes back and forth and rolling them around and stuff, cause I move my eyes so rapidly. But if you cant look someone in the eyes when you talk to them, you gotta be looking at everything else.

It's supposed to be reflexive, though.

My eyes are naturally unfocused, and have to force them to see normally. My optician so does not get this. Also I am (not visibly) cross eyed, up to about 4 feet in front of me. My eyes are quite lazy, but not in the medical sense, they just can't be bothered.

So is breathing or blinking your eyes, but you can still do those things voluntarily.

I too can focus or unfocus my eyes at will, although not when looking at far objects.

I focus and unfocus my eyes on specific things sometimes. ("Oh! I want to look at that tree directly in front of me! Oh! I want to look at what the background is behind that tree! Yay!")

...That probably made no sense. I confused myself typing that.
