I'm almost always stimming! I'm a rocker, and it's constant[b] I've had lots of people tell me to stop it because it's distracting for them when they talk to me. I can't help it. Even in the car when I drive, i sometimes notice i'm bobbing my head a bit. The funny thing is, my car has no radio and I drive with my windows down. I sing and talk to myself when I drive, because I can't rock there and it makes me feel calmer if I have something else to take the edge off of hard focusing. I do stop that whenever I get pulled over by cops. Then I have LOTS of other things to keep me busy! Oddly enough, every single cop that's stopped me has been very calm and nice to me. I wonder if they can tell something's not quite there with me? I'm always respectful and keep my hands where they can be seen, and also I tell them exactly what I'm going into my bag or pocket for, and do it slowly. Maybe I've just been lucky. When I was a kid, I'd actually bounce back and forth on the couch. I eventually grew out of that, but not before I'd worn out a few cushions. :)

Now that it is August, my stim level is still very high thanks to my anticipation of senior year.
Upcoming school shopping torture sessions will up the level of stimming, as long as I am not stimming in Sears or Old Navy.

My stim level is very high as i'm always stimming constantly.
I flap my hands and fingers when i'm happy or excited.
I pick my cuticles all the time till they bleed sometimes.
I fidget with my keys allot expecially when nervous.
I grind my teeth which is bad because they are worn down from it.

I dont quite understand what stimming is but...

I'm always changing positions when I'm sitting... and when I'm totally bored I find something to fidget with always :)

when I'm sitting for long periods of time at something boring I have to either sleep, find something to keep me busy, or go crazy!

None of the movements are repetitive though, so I dont really know what you would call it :?

Anyone know?

My stim level is generally quite mild. I tend to stim in public, but it's not very noticable. One of the stims I do often would be clearing my throat over and over again.

It all depends on my stress level though, right now I am stressed because my grandmothers cat might need to be put down. So right now I am rocking side-to-side.

I think most of mine are fairly inconspicuous or at least don't seem to weird. When I am sitting I will sometimes bounce my leg at a very high vibrating rate. I will also wring my hands and tap my thumb to my fingers in sequence.
When I walk my right hand will do a guitar strum motion or my left hand will have the middle two fingers tap into my palm repeatedly with the hand curled up I don't think that it is very noticable.
When I am standing like in a line I find myself starting to middle wobble. My feet and head remain pretty much in the same place, but my middle will rock back and forth. When there are people around I usually try to limit it to a small amount of wobble or redirect it to clenching and unclenching muscles instead.

I stim a lot but nothing really noticeable. I do it a lot more when I'm anxious or in pain as well so it depends really.

Not sure if I know what stimming is... but I whistle like crazy, most of the time without noticing. When I'm not whistling I'm usually humming something random, not songs, but crappy blues improvs and so on. Humming as I type this :p Leg bouncing too.

I was walking along the street with my sort of only friend recently, and sort of shot my hand out and flapped it before I realised what I was doing...quickly tried to pretend it hadnt happened as it took me by surprise.

I alternate between pacing and a sort of windmill-type flapping (when nobody is around). On average, I spend at least two hours a day this way. I feel it's rather out of control; even if I've hurt my back doing it, or I'm sick, I can't seem to stop myself. Sometimes I accidentally whack my hand against a wall, and I've broken a few household objects this way...

I repress my stiming 99% of the time when out in public, in private or especally when trying to sleep I stim like crazy because its enjoyable, feels good and helps me sleep.

i think mine is fairly high, i rock back and forth no matter where i am and fiddle with my hands, what i find strange is that i usually dont care where i stim, at work, school, or home. when i was younger i used to bang my head repeatativly on the a door at home or on my pillow, and still do it on my own sometimes if im anxious, i tend to do it more if im thinking of something embarrasing i did.

steff x

Whenever I am in loud environments with lots of people, like a restaurant or something, I tend to get really nervous and hyper to like an insane degree, and what I do is rapidly tap my feet and rock my head and mouth lyrics to songs, as if I am listening to it, and I stutter and s**t when people talk to me. I guess when I actually am listening to music, it calms me down a little.
I'm not sure what the f**k stimming means, but that might be it.
I don't do much of that in other places, or there is other stuff I do, but when I am alone I hardly do it at all.

Always raising the level of cerebral activity via immersing self into the pools of knowledge. Always swimming in fact, info, resources and data - to grasp the reasons for why this life had to happen.

I am like this too. I usually stim when I am deep in thought, or when I practice the piano I rock a lot (not the same as rocking out to the music, though, LOL). Last night I was sitting on the floor with my flatmates - who I don't know very well - and I was nervous and noticed that I rocked my legs back and forth. I couldn't sit still.

The worst for me is eye blinking. I blink one eye, then the other, in succession. I must look like a freak, haha. Sometimes I catch myself doing it in public, but usually it is when I am alone, reading a book or watching a movie that I am very into...
