www.nanowrimo.org holds a yearly novel writing contest starting november 1st. You have 30 days exactly to write 50 000 words(a novella). When done, you submit it, and they pass it through a word counter.

Its less of a competition and more of a marathon. The idea is to cross the finish line, not come in first.

Now go check it out!

Hmm... I wonder if I took everything I end up posting in the public forums here during November, and pasted it all into a Word doc, what the final word tally would be...? 8O I suspect easily at least 50,000 words, not counting stuff I've quoted. I'm tempted just to do that, title it "A Month Of Mad Ramblings", and turn it in. I've turned down the Icarus volume nob a bit recently, for various reasons; I'll crank that sucker back up to flank volume, and write a storm of streams of consciousness the likes of which even the gods have never seen. My constant delusions will give me more than sufficient content; they will simply lack coherency, for my inner world is a complex and chaotic place. But continuity becomes redundant when one thinks in a non-linear fashion; cause and effect are naught but the same observed from different precepts...

The plots, the schemes, the plans, the dreams; I'll compose them all and post in reams.

Good fortune,

- Icarus stops to lament missed Mongolian barbeques... <- My contribution to the 7 words story; 49,965 outstanding; and the "they" still works, for I/w am/are legion.
