Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Heeeaaaar Yeeeeee!

The world has been thoroghly decieved by the "Piano Man".

He is a German national, a gay farmer boy from Bavaria.

Apparently, he initially lost his job in Paris, and later he was attempting to commit suicide; and that was when the authorities caught him snooping around all satuated in rain and what not. When he was sent to a medical professional, he was able to fool them into thinking he was either traumatised or autistic.

For a full report, go to this link (its a performing arts website of some sort - I found it on google news)

http://www.playbillarts.com/news/article/2700.html

Although he pretended to be mentally ill, after some thought I think that he may still have a condition according to DSM-IV(TR) - a somataform disorder. He may either be a chronic malingerer (where a patient compulsively pretends to have an illness, so that he could gain something from it, eg, fame, attention, etc), or he may have Facticious Disorder (where a patient compulsively pretends to have an illness so that he may occupy the sick role).

But in the other hand, It's very likely I'm wrong. I feel like I want to beat him up now; he practically fooled the world. I think the nurses who cared for him should put their facts straight too.

That stinks for him; I'd hate to be pretending I had Asperger's or autism. I remember once I asked a teacher what would happen if I was faking AS, but I'm not sure if she took me seriously or not. I hope that she didn't think I was serious, I was only in eighth grade, and then I asked LOTS of questions about anything and everything. I still do, but not as much. She just said I wouldn't have special ed. anymore; it wouldn't mean anything to fake AS anyways, because people with it don't recieve intellectual help, they recieve social help most of the time.

Nowhere in the article does the guy say that he was pretending. Of course the mental hospital is upset...they were infatuated with the idea of a savant. It sounds to me like he was very disturbed and upset and had a breakdown.

The fact that he used to work with the mentally ill means little: I used to work with disabled people, including autistics. That doesn't negate the fact that I turned out to be autistic myself, even though I did, as aspies/auties will, tend to pick up and mirror some mannerisms. I do that all the time, get attached to or interested in someone and mirror them.
