Okay for those of you who dont know me (which is alot) I plan to study in Korea next year either for one term or both but now Im having some problems with it. First while the dorms at the college are nicer (I went there this spring with class) there still dorms and Im not sure if I show that I need to have (after getting dxed hopefully the 30th) a single here if that will mean I get one there if not there will be a huge language barrior (Ill get to why a little later) added on to the problems I already have staying in a double. Also on this note there will be no way to escape this, currently I go to my dads house every weekend but that wont be possible over there (unless my stepdad takes the job in Korea with the military, yeah right.)

Next major problem is that are sister school over there is an all-girls school besides for the few male international students (thats the reason for the likelyhood of a language barrior). While this may seem good (finally a gf!) I dont know how well I will be able to handle that highly feminine of a setting for a term or even a year (no offence to any girls here). Any ideas on what I should do???

I meant to respond and forgot. Sorry.

Are you concerned because they are girls or because they are Korean girls? It makes a difference. I have suggestions how to act around girls in the US. I don't know enough about Korean culture to make any suggestions.

Mostly just girls and the fact that theres a 2000 to 1 ratio of them.

Okay.

First off, learn as much as you can about the culture. I know thats a Duh! but still its very important.

Expect to be a novality. Girls will look, giggle, talk to you, maybe touch you. ITS NOT ABOUT YOU. Its about the rare. Don't read more into it then is there. Don't assume they all really want to be your friend.

I'd lay off the girlfriend angle (no pun intended). They will be, if you are lucky, friends. If you try to get a gf out of it too quickly you will find yourself back in the USA quicker than you can say "expelled."

Enjoy the attention if you can but know its fleeting.

BeeBee probably has the best practical advice here. :) Just remember that most Asian cultures tend to be more respectful than American culture does. I'm not sure about the specifics of Korean culture as opposed to Chinese or Japanese, but respect, especially for those who are older or in a higher position than you are (ie your professors).
